Alvarez solid, blows in ninth though.

April 6th, 2013.

Miami: (1-4)
New York: (4-1)

Miami: 3
New York: 4

Alvarez: (0-1)
Robles: (1-0)

Miami's bad luck has continued, as they have lost their second consecutive game due to a walkoff hit, Henderson Alvarez was the pitcher today, he threw extremely well, going for 8 and a third innings but still garnering the loss, how was that? He gave up a two run homerun in the fifth inning. But that was the only real damage until the ninth, when he walked John Buck and then gave up a single right after, a double play ball was hit, but only one out went, another single came and then it was tied. I feel like play by play! Anyways, after that, a grounder slipped through first and was bobbled by Giancarlo Stanton which resulted in the game winning single. The marlins slip to 1-4 and look to avoid the sweep tomorrow as they send Wade LeBlanc to the mound.

On a side note, Matt Downs has returned and is going to be able to start the next game coming.

April 10th, 2013.

Juan Pierre designated for assignment

The current active major league leader in stolen bases has been designated for assignment by general manager Scott Drexler. Juan Pierre started off the season dreadfully, batting .176 with just three RBI and only two stolen bases, while being caught 5 times.
"We felt it was right to do this, Juan had a less than okay start to the season and may be the factor that we are 1-8, he just has not been a good table setter as the lead off man. On another note, we have decided to also designate Austin Kearns for assignment, he has 5 errors on the season already and has only been playing as a pinch hitter and defensive substitution, while hitting he is 0-6 with no walks."

Juan Pierre can now either be traded, released or outrighted to AAA, if he is outrighted, he will be put on outright waivers in which case another team can claim him, as the same with Austin Kearns.

Scott Drexler has decided to bring up Ken Guthrie and Jeff Mathis, who was in AAA for an unknown reason.

"We believe that Chris Coghlan will be a reliable replacement to Mr. Pierre."

Marlins snap losing streak, Pierre the cause?

April 12th, 2013.

Miami: (2-8)
Philadelphia: (6-4)

Miami: 5
Philadelphia: 3

Reed: (1-1)
Horst: (2-1)
Cishek: (2)

The Miami Marlins have snapped their six game losing streak due to late game heroics by Giancarlo Stanton, but there may be more to this victory than what you see on the box score. Henderson Alvarez started the game, surrendering three runs over five innings to leave with a quality start, rookie Evan Reed then came in and pitched three innings of shutout ball to gain the victory before handing the ball to Steve Cishek to earn his second save of the year. But, Giancarlo "Mike" Stanton was the reason this losing streak ended, on the first pitch of his at bat in the bottom of the eight, he pounded a 433 foot bomb into left field for his second of the year. This win comes after two outfielders, Austin Kearns and Juan Pierre were outrighted to AAA. Perhaps they were the reason this ball club couldn't turn it around.

Ace Wade LeBlanc is scheduled to start tomorrows game as he looks for his first win of the season.

Is there a paternity list in '13? Or did you just make that up?

I don't believe there is a paternity list.

LeBlanc as ace? How are you winning any games?

How did Pierre and Kearns slip through waivers untouched?

Yeah, he's in as #1.

AgentP: there is no paternity list, I made that up, add to the "realism"

I'm going to the Jays game today so I might not have an update until is evening.

Edit: Agentp: I'm not sure how the two of them got through. Wade has actually been pitching pretty good too, he has something like a 4.75 era and he's 0-0.

I'm not living up to my plan to show more games than simulate ones. Anyways, do you guys like this single game format, or would you like something that shows the scores, winning pitcher, and notables weekly?

April 17th, 2013.

Marlins win back-to-back series' for first time since 2012.

Miami: (5-10)
Washington: (8-7)

Miami: 4
Washington: 2

Win: Henderson Alvarez: (1-1)
Save: Steve Cishek (4)
Loss: Tyler Clippard (0-2)

The Marlins have won back-to-back series for the first time in a very long time, they had just beaten Philadelphia in a three game series and have done the same in this half week versus Washington. The two teams were just scoring in one run intervals until the marlins loaded the bases in the seventh and scored two. Before that Wilson Ramos hit a solo blast in the top of the third to start the runs for his team. This didn't prove to be an issue even though the marlins are 0-4 when the opposing team scores first. Henderson Avarez pitched a very solid game, only giving up two runs and only striking out one over seven innings, however he induced 14 ground balls for outs this game. Logan Morrison shot a ball right into the foul pole to tie the game up earlier, he is very hot lately, a .423 batting average in his past ten games with three homeruns in those ten.

Wade LeBlanc takes the mound tomorrow after suffering his first loss last start even though he gave up just three runs over a six plus solid effort.

April 20th, 2013.

Giancarlo Stanton homer not enough, Marlins fall to scorching hot Reds.

Miami: (5-13)
Cincinatti: (13-5)

Miami: 2
Cincinatti: 4

Win: Johnny Cueto (1-1)
Save: Jonathon Broxton (7)
Loss: Ricky Nolasco (2-2)

The Marlins definitely couldn't keep their hot streak going as they've lost their first series since winning two in a row, they didn't pick the right ball club to keep it going as the Cincinatti Reds have now won seven games in a row and are the opposite of the Marlins in the standings. Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo homerun for his fifth of the year but there are definitely concerns, he is only batting .223, hopefully that can turn around. Jay Bruce was the deciding factor in the game as he hit a tie breaking two run blast against Ricky to make the score 4-2. Miami threatened in the eight, putting two runners on with just one out before Stanton hit into a double play. Ricky Nolasco essentially had a complete game under his belt, throwing only 81 pitches over 8 innings, but surrendered too many runs and the Marlins couldn't get him to pitch the bottom of the ninth due to the lack of run support.

If you're not an A's fan, you're alright with him.

But most of us A's fans don't like him for a couple reasons. He never comes through in the clutch because he can't hit. And whenever we have a clutch situation it seems to be Sogard batting.

You appear to be right with the not clutch part, however dish was "right" too. He's batting .333 with eleven hits in limited starts and pinch hitting however his only two RBI are on solo shots while he is .000 with RISP, so not clutch yes, good hitter? Yes too.

Plus his glasses are just too good.

April 20th, 2013.

Could Ricky Nolasco's future with Miami come to an abrupt end?

After a series of 8 inning starts, the thirty year old right hander has definitely gotten some attention from a few teams, specifically the Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies. Ricky Nolasco has had two consecutive starts in which he has thrown eight plus and has struck out 7 in both of those, showcasing that he should be the ace instead of Wade LeBlanc. Scott Drexler has said during numerous news conferences that everyone is open to the trade market except young star Logan Morrison. Nolasco definitely could fetch a nice price and Brad Hand in the bullpen could definitely take a spot in the rotation as he has been spot on from the bullpen, and good in a spot start, as he has a 0.93 ERA (iirc) Ricky Nolasco's role with the organization is their #3 starter right now, but coming into mid to late may, could be one of the hottest names on the market.

Yes it could. Why not sell now and build a young core?

I want to wait for a bit longer to see if Ricky's stats improve and get a better package for him, might throw in someone like Hechevarria or Pierre since he passed down to AAA.

Makes sense. But selling should be the eventual plan this season.

Oh yeah, for sure, Mike's probably gone by the all-star game, same with probably Steve Cishek too.
