April 4, 2016: In November, when the White Sox hired new General Manager Will Hudson, many expected the team to sit idly during the offseason. However, Hudson proved the doubters wrong by acquiring Brett Lawrie and Tood Frazier in trades with the A's and Reds respectively. Hudson also signed free agent CF Austin Jackson and pitcher Mat Latos, as well as catchers Dioner Navarro and Alex Avila to further solidify a decent squad in Chicago. Full positional break down: Catcher Dioner Navarro: Age 32. Navarro was acquired to originally be the backup, Navarro outplayed Avila for the starting spot. His clutch factor and ability to throw out runners earned him the job. Alex Avila: Age 29. Avila didn't impress manager Robin Ventura during the spring, and will back up Navarro as a result. Avila can provide decent at bats when Navarro needs rest. First Base Jose Abreu: Age 29. Abreu comes into his third MLB season looking to continue his dominance of opposing pitching. Second Base Brett Lawrie: Age 26. Acquired from Oakland, give the White Sox a great locker room presence, as well much needed defensive skills. Shortstop Jimmy Rollins: Age 37. A former NL MVP, Rollins is a decent addition in the field, but may struggle at the plate. Tyler Saladino: Age 26. A great defensive player, needs to improve his skills at the plate. Third Base Todd Frazier: Age 30. The reigning HR derby champ, Frazier will add an extra power bat to the Chicagoan lineup. Left Field Melky Cabrera: Age 31. Arguably Chicago's best signing in 2015, is a clutch hitter with a flair for driving in runs. Jerry Sands: Age 28. Not much here, may hit a few homers and bat .220 at best. Center Field Austin Jackson: Age 29. A great fielder, will allow Adam Eaton to play at a more comfortable position at RF. Right Field Adam Eaton: Age 27. Great contact leadoff man, great fielder, great presence. What's more to ask for? Avisail Garcia: Age 24. Needs to improve in order to maintain a spot. Will most likely be used as DH. Starting Pitcher Chris Sale: Age 27. The AL Cy Young favorite. Poised for a breakout year. Jose Quintana: Age 27. Another pitcher poised for a breakout year, is only in need of run support. Carlos Rodon: Age 23. Looked like an ace at the end of 2015, most intriguing starter. Mat Latos: Age 28. Cheap singing. Low risk, high reward. Miguel Gonzalez: Age 31. Possibly can make a decent #5 starter. Relief Pitcher Nate Jones: Age 30. Great setup man. Could reach 100 MPH. Zach Duke: Age 32. The MLBPP god. Could be a decent reliever. Matt Albers: Age 33. Power pitcher who can constantly get outs. Has up and down stretches. Zach Putnam: Age 28. Decent control pitcher, hoping to have another decent year. Jake Petricka: Age 27. Can eat up some innings if necessary. Dan Jennings: Age 28. Another decent long relievers. Matt Purke: Age 25. Rookie who is hoping to earn a spot at LR. Closer David Robertson: Age 30. Had a great season in 2015, looking to do the same this year. The White Sox start off 2016 with a 4-game series in Oakland versus Billy Beane's Athletics. Stay tuned for the opener!
