ABO MILESTONE ALERT August 9, 2016 SKYLINERS COMBINE TO NO-HIT BREWERS Jonathan Smith and Evan Parham, the pitchers who combined to throw the 2nd ABO No-Hitter this year. CHICAGO, IL (NAP) - One out. That's all that stood between Jonathan Smith and a no-hitter for the Chicagoland Skyliners. However, when 2 walks and 2 groundouts led to the Kalamazoo Brewers' first run of the game, the Skyliners manager decided, against the crowd's wishes, to pull Smith with 2 outs in the 9th. The good news? Evan Parham induced a flyout to center on the first pitch to seal the first combined no-hitter in the ABO, and the second one in the league this year, in a 5-1 victory at Daly Park. Smith's final line was 8.2 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 11 K, and 3 BB. This no-no won't officially be a no-hitter in the normal, record book-type sense, but we at the NAP congratulate these 2 Skyliners pitchers on accomplishing a feat that could be considered rarer than the conventional no-no! |
