Interesting move letting Miles go, curious to see how next season goes. :) You were close this year!

He over-performed, considering his sharp drop in skills following 2005, and I decided it was time to open up a spot for Mac Fraser.

Next up is a created player update, then the 2007 preview.

All but Tulo, Grossman, Royal, and McGee are in the Majors.

O'Connor, Myers, and Mcgee don't have progression updates because they weren't in the 2006 Spring Training update and I forgot to write down their abilities before player progression was calculated. Tulowitzki doesn't have it because I added him after it was calculated for 2007.

If anyone who does not have a player would like to add one, let me know.

Brazelton Placed on 15-Day DL
April 25th, 2007
Zachary Bluth

Following the Rockies' 6-4 loss to the Marlins in the final game of the series, starting pitcher Dewon Brazelton was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a tendonitis in his right wrist. Brazelton was experiencing some discomfort in the second inning and threw just two pitches in the third before giving way to Chin-Hui Tsao. This is Brazelton's second injury since being acquired by Colorado as a free agent in November of 2005, the first being a sprained MCL that also resulted in a 15-day DL stint.

Brazelton, 26, is currently 0-3 but possesses a solid 3.79 ERA in four starts.

Michael Morgan (1.50 ERA in 4 AAA starts) will be called up to fill the empty roster spot, and may start a game in Brazelton's absence, though Chin-Hui Tsao will likely at least get the nod in next Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Brazelton Returns, Displaces Cain
May 10th, 2007
Zachary Bluth

After a successful rehab start in AA Tulsa on Wednesday, Dewon Brazelton returned to the 25-man roster. Michael Morgan, who assumed a relief role in Brazelton's absence, pitched 2.2 shutout innings for the big-league club but will return to AAA. Chin-Hui Tsao, Brazelton's replacement in the rotation, pitched 15.1 shutuout innings in starts against the Nationals and Pirates, leading to Clint Hurdle's decision to grant him a starting spot and move Matt Cain (0-2, 7.94) to the bullpen. Cain will start against the Pirates Thursday night since Brazelton just pitched in AA, but the former will then be moved a to a long relief role.

Shake-Up in Rockies Bullpen
June 11th, 2007
Zachary Bluth

Following the 6-4 loss against Tampa Bay, Michael Cathaway met with manager Clint Hurdle and the two decided to move relief pitchers Merkin Valdez and Javier Lopez down to AAA.

Lopez, 29, currently possesses a 6.06 ERA and has allowed 49 hits in just 35.2 innings. Valdez, 25, was very productive in 19 games after being acquired via trade in 2006, pitching his way to a 3.14 ERA, has struggled with his control, allowing nearly five walks per nine innings. His ERA in 29.0 innings sits at 6.21.

Replacing the two in middle relief will be 27-year old Jason Young (66.0 IP, 1.77 ERA, 71 K) and 29-year old Dan Wheeler (51.2 IP, 2.79 ERA, 45 K). Young has not appeared in a major league game since 2004, but pitched his way to a sub-2 ERA in AAA in both 2005 and 2006. Wheeler, who was signed to a minor league contract prior to the 2006 season, last pitched in the majors in 2005, though that was only in two games. He has 187.2 career innings and a 5.18 ERA under his belt.

The Rockies' starting staff is 27-16, but the relievers are 8-11, so changes are much needed. And with 21-year old Case Royal (3.47 ERA, 20 SV), 24-year old Chuck Keisler (58.1 IP, 3.09 ERA), and 29-year old Scott Dohmann (28.1 IP, 3.81 ERA) all pitching well at AAA, Eddy Rodriguez (22.2 IP, 5.96 ERA) might be the next to go.

6/13 vs. BOS - L, 9-6

6/16 vs. BAL - L, 7-6
6/17 vs. BAL - L, 6-3 (Brazelton injured, will miss one start)

Rockies Record: 35-33 (9.5 games back)

A nice hit stretch followed by a nasty losing streak. :/
