Meanwhile, the Chicago deal is also puzzling, as Johnson is a largely unproven hitter and Derrek Lee has been a major factor in propelling the Cubs to their 56-42 record. Experts everywhere agree that the Yankees got the better end of that deal.

Classic Cubs.

Michael Morgan Demoted
August 27th, 2006
Zachary Bluth

Following today's game against the Pirates, Michael Cathaway made the decision to demote Michael Morgan to AAA and assign Matt Cain to his starting role. Morgan (2-5, 8.41 ERA) has struggled since taking over for the injured Chin-Hui Tsao, and the Rockies feel that the 23-year old submariner "needs more time in the minors to work on his secondary pitches". Matt Cain has been solid since being recalled from AAA, lowering his ERA from 7.45 to 4.99. He will be the team's 5th starter.

Meanwhile, to replace Cain in the long relief role, 22-year old Adam Loewen has been called up from AAA. He has been great in the minors this year, posting a 9-4 record and a 2.98 ERA with 122 strikeouts in 148 innings. Loewen, who was acquired in a trade with the Orioles last season, saw just 14.2 innings in the majors last year, during which he posted a 6.75 ERA in relief for the Rockies; however, he seems to have greatly improved his stuff, and looks to be a nice addition to the major league squad.

When do you get to the part where the Dodgers win the division?

I'm pretty sure they're in a distant third, hovering around .500.

Honestly, we shouldn't even be in first, but the division is inexplicably weak this year. The Giants are in 2nd and would've caught up but they're on a 4 game losing streak now.

Poo. Well then, I guess I'm forced to cheer for the Rockies.

Quentin stuck him out so much then everyone on the Rockies partied with Quentin and Matthias cried so hard that he died.

What's your obsession with McKnight? You created your guy as a multiple MVP winner. Of course he's going to be better!
