Acosta Injured in Win Over Phils
July 28th, 2005

As the Rockies marched to their fourth consecutive win, rookie shortstop Domingo Acosta (.295, 3 HR, 37 RBI, 8 SB) was injured on a swing in the 5th inning. Team trainers are calling it a "strained left forearm", and it's unclear when he'll be able to return. He was placed on the 15-day DL, and 32-year old infielder Enrique Wilson was called up to fill his spot.

Wilson, a career .246 hitter in 1384 at bats, has excelled thus far in AAA, batting .316 with 10 home runs in 91 games. It's likely that third baseman Joey Acaccia will slide over to shortstop, while Wilson and current backup third baseman Chris McMahon will split time at third.

He's still got a legitimate ROTY shot, but hes not doing as well as he was early in the year.

The Giants are something like 71-30, so I'm not too broken up about it. ;)

Blake's doing decent. Hoping he can play across Barry soon, perhaps a September callup. (although secretly, he thinks he can be better than him someday)

Who's Lance Carter - created player?
