We've done it for two years now, so I imagine we should do it for a third. However, we need some more signups. Only four people from last years are still here, so if anyone is interested, please signup quickly! I'll try to get the bowls up this week so people can start making there picks. The first bowl is on the 21st, so try and get your picks in by then. You may enter after that date, however, you will get automatic losses for any bowls you miss, putting you at an early disadvantage! Yes, I think it's necessary. Adding more teams into the mix to see if they're worthy is a good thing. A playoff probably would have avoided the snooze-fest last year, by exposing Notre Dame in the semi-finals, and letting a likely more worthy team into the championship. If it was up to me, I'd do an eight-team playoff. Have the five main conference winners, plus three at larges. For example, this year would have 1. Florida St vs 8. Missouri in the Orange Bowl. 2. Auburn vs 7. Ohio St in the Sugar Bowl. 3. Alabama vs 6. Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl. And 4. Michigan St vs 5. Stanford in the Rose Bowl. And then obviously the bracket would go from there, with special bowls being used for the semi-finals and championship. It wouldn't always work out perfectly with the conference ties, but oh well. That part isn't too important. The big thing is having top ranked teams play each other in games that actually matter. Who knows, maybe Michigan State has the best team, and would be able to beat Stanford, Alabama, and Florida State. Maybe Florida State and Auburn really are the best two teams, and all the other games would be irrelevant in the end. But we would never know. The bracket helps show which team really is the best. Currently, all we can know is if Florida State can beat Auburn, or vice-versa. Everyone else gets excluded. |
