MLBPPWORLD FANTASY SEMIFINAL ROUND 1 RECAP
One Man Revolution (GoTwins24) 134.94 iPump Plastic (iPumpPlastic) 91.48
Summary: One Man Revolution's hot streak continued into the postseason, and they have now scored over 125 in 7 consecutive weeks. Their strength is, by far, their RB position, and this week was no exception. Rachaad White has been one of the best fantasy players in the league this year, and continued his tremendous run of form by scoring 20.5. Kyren Williams was also decent with 12, although he was stopped at the 1, which would have put him closer to 20. Christian McCaffrey started off hot with a 70 yard run, but lost the TD to Jordan Mason and finished with 15. One concern for McCaffrey is Deebo Samuel, who has been receiving some of McCaffrey's opportunities. Even still, McCaffrey has a case for fantasy MVP, and is a consistent threat to score 15+. D.J. Moore was tremendous, scoring 23 on two touchdowns. Moore now has 68 combined points against iPump Plastic in 2023. Dak Prescott has been the team's MVP, as their surge has correlated with Prescott's MVP level of play. Prescott had a bit of a drop-off, but was still phenomenal. The only real letdowns were Miami's defense and De'Von Achane, who combined for just under 20, which is decent, but One Man Revolution wanted to add more to their existing lead. As it stands, 43 points is a major lead, but the team has lost two big first round leads in the past (2017 and 2022). They will look to finish things off next week and advance to the championship for the fourth time in league history. It was a brutal first round for iPump Plastic, as it was the worst performance from the Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, and Tyreek Hill trio this season. Hurts and Brown combined for just over 20 points as they were shut down by Dallas' defense. Each of them fumbled, which made things considerably worse. Hurts has not scored under 15 since Week 1, but picked the worst week to struggle. Then, Tyreek Hill suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter of Monday night's game on a questionable tackle. He returned and had some impact, but still finished with his worst output of the season. This seems like it will affect Hill for the rest of the season, so it is something for iPump Plastic to monitor. Their RB situation slightly improved with the signing of Jerick McKinnon, who scored 11 for them. However, Isiah Pacheco will probably return soon, so this was more of a one-time patch. TE is generally a weak spot, but Chig Okonkwo was solid with 7. Next week, they will need to be at their absolute best to pull off a stunning comeback, as they need to outscore One Man Revolution by over 43.
Team Griffith (jag123jg) 148.22 Atomic Pickles (AgentP) 124.44
Summary: After a miserable start, it has been a remarkable season for the defending champion. They had to claw back into the playoffs on the final day, but now that they are in, they look like a force to be reckoned with. Josh Allen has been their anchor all season, and he performed well against a tough KC defense to score 20. Aside from Allen, Breece Hall, Cooper Kupp, and DeAndre Hopkins were the standouts. It was a rough stretch for Kupp, and Team Griffith considered benching him until the injury to Jonathan Taylor forced him to start him. Kupp rewarded Team Griffith with 20 points this week. On a similar note to the Taylor injury, Chuba Hubbard has emerged as a reliable option in recent weeks. This week, he scored a solid 10 points, and looks to have taken control of Carolina's backfield. Team Griffith would have gotten close to 160 had Justin Jefferson not been injured. Fortunately, Jefferson may not miss time, but his value may take a hit with Minnesota's QB struggles. DeAndre Hopkins was a key part of Team Griffith's 2022 championship, and he played another key role in the first round of the semifinal with over 20. But their special teams were the unsung heroes, as Cleveland's defense and Brandon Aubrey combined for a key 37 points: 16 more than the Atomic Pickles' special teams. A 23-point lead is significant, but not necessarily comfortable. Even still, Team Griffith are in a great position to return to the championship game. The Atomic Pickles have to be frustrated to be facing a 20+ point hole, and will hope to avoid falling victim to the #1 seed curse. CJ Stroud's injury devastated them this week, as Stroud only scored 3. Stroud may return soon, but there are questions about his performance after some recent struggles. Aside from Stroud, it was a remarkably consistent output, as literally every position player scored between 11 and 15 points. Travis Kelce improved after some struggles, which is a good sign for the Pickles, and Rashee Rice has emerged as Mahomes' number 1 WR option. Travis Etienne also positively regressed after some poor performances. Younghoe Koo's surprisingly bad game was actually a key part of their deficit, as he was outscored by 18 points by his counterpart kicker. Now, the Pickles will have to hope Stroud returns to health in order to complete a comeback and avoid the #1 seed curse.
Consolation Ladder Scores: Mahomes on the Range (Lancer) 107.94 Jahmyr Gibbs' Positional Value (Dishnet34) 101.02
Detroit Phantoms (DTigers115) 75.1 Wesley All Stars (Wesley) 72.04
Quattrocento Desperados (BaseballTeen9500) 120.86 Calvin n The Chipmunks (PhilliesFan134) 113.42
Teiyo Tomozawas (MUFFINZ) 80.84 North Pole Narwhals (AnthonyP) 108.2
Best of luck to the teams still alive in the semifinal!
