Post subject: | Baseball Player turned Miracle Worker |
My name is Jack Martinez Jr. I have played baseball since I was in high school. I dreamed of becoming a MLB player my whole life. Yet that all changed when I turned 21. I was walking home on a Friday. My parents had been telling about the tendencies of drunk drivers. That night I was almost another victim but I lived but not without consequence. When the driver hit me I was sent flying I had landed on my pitching shoulder. When I was driven to the hospital in the ambulance, I was barely breathing. Three weeks later I was out of the hospital still in a sling my doctor told me my career was over but I refused to believe that. June 21, 2015 I began throwing right handed because I didn't want my dream to die the pain and agony my arm gave me only made me want to work harder. After about two months the sling finally came off and rehab was finished, but I was afraid to try and test my surgically repaired shoulder. August 28, 2015 I threw a few with my right arm which was now my dominant arm it felt strong. Then against the doctors wishes. I threw a pitch with my left arm. The radar gun read 94. After two months and a bunch of rehab I had finally gotten my arm back to full strength. The day in question was my 22th birthday. I throw several more pitches my parents and family were in tears because I had finally fully healed. April 2, 2018 Jack Martinez Jr. Throws a no hitter At the age of 25 I finally got my first chance in the majors and I threw a no hitter I managed to baffle the Rangers lineup. My final line was 9 IP 0 R 0H 0BB 11Ks 110 pitches. My family and I had overcome adversity just so I could step onto a major league mound. When I threw that final pitch I had tears in my eyes because I had never been so happy just to be there in a major league ballpark doing what I loved. THE END |
