Bullpen can't finish shutout in Sapporo win
In tonight's game, Sapporo won their first ever game played versus Kyoto. In the first, Maeda got in trouble with the bases loaded and 2 outs but eventually got out of the inning striking out Maito. In the bottom of the first, DeMarcus Gunderson got the Bears first ever hit with a 2-out single. In the bottom of the second, Ieyasu got the scoring started with an RBI single. The next batter, Kyoro Hakeyama, brought in a run with an RBI ground out, 2-0 at the end of the second. In the 3rd, Gunderson struck with a 2-R HR, and Lockhart belted a sac fly to make it 5-0. In the top of the sixth, the Bears brought in reliever Titus Whitberg after a supreme outing by Sora Maeda. In the bottom of the sixth, Justin Case roped a grand slam to make it 9-0. That ended Seiichi Murakami's outing bringing in Shuihara. In the seventh, Toshiro Ota ripped an RBI double, and Ieyasu drove an RBI single. After that Case ripped an RBI single to make the score 12-0. In the eighth, Kamiya came in for the Bears to keep the shutout alive. In the ninth, the Whalers found a small bit of hope with Jason Flynn coming through on an attack point with an RBI single making the score 12-1. Then, Ise scored another run on a RBI ground out. Final score, 12-2 Bears!

Eh, a 1-2 start isn't too bad.

After the game...

Will: Hey Gates, whatsup!

Gates: Not much boss, I'm pretty mad that both of our losses have been my fault.

Will: It's alright Gates, everyone has a slump, and right now, well, I guess it's your turn.

Gates: Are you sure it's just a slump? I'm 0-2 in 2 games!

Will: Just a slump man, you know what, come over to my house tonight. I'll get you cheered up in time for the Marines series!

Gates: Alright, I guess. See you there boss!

There was a knock at the door, it had to be Andy.

Gates: Hey Mr. Nathan

Will: Oh, hello Gates!

Gates: So, uh, thanks for inviting me for dinner Mr. Nathan!

Will: Thanks for coming over, and call me Will!

Gates: Alright! So! I guess I should just go out with a passion against the Marines?

Will: You know it Gates! Just pitch like the preseason!

Gates: Alright!

Will: Let's go in to the dining room, I'll introduce you to my family!

I called up for Henry and Vanessa to come down.

Henry: Hello! Are you Andy Gates?!

Gates: Yes, I am! Are you—

Henry: You stink! You're 0-2! Can I have your autograph?

Gates: Well that wasn't rude at all! But sure...

Will: Henry!

Gates: It's alright Will, I already know that I stink.

Vanessa: Hi Mr. Gates!

Gates: Well, hello! You must be Vanessa Nathan! Your dad brags to the team about you all the time!

Vanessa: Heehee

Will: Ok, go run along Henry and Vanessa.

Gates: A handful?

Will: Yeah! Definitely! Anyway, this is my wife, Katrina.

Gates: It's nice to meet you Mrs. Nathan!

Katrina: Please, call me Katrina. Do you have a family Andy?

Gates: Yes, I do, I'm married but don't have kids yet.

Katrina: Well, we'd be glad to have you and your wife over again.

Will: So what's for dinner honey?!

To be continued...

Katrina: Fried chicken!

Henry: I love fried chicken! Thank you so much Mommy!

Will: Get to the table Henry, you too Vanessa.

Vanessa and Henry: Alright Daddy...

At dinner...

Katrina: So Andy, how did you get to be in the NPB?

Gates: Well! I was a 47th round draft pick in the 2010 draft, but the MLB scouts said I didn't have "IT", so I decided to come to Japan this year to realize there were going to be 2 new teams. Quite a lucky break eh?

Will: Well, they didn't think you had "IT", but I sure think you do!

Gates: Aw shucks, thanks!

Sapporo wins slugfest
Sapporo got their second ever win tonight in Chiba Lotte with an 11-4 win over the Marines. No scoring happened til the top of the third, when Tessai Yamaguchi drove an RBI single to make it 1-0 Bears. In the third, Yuki Hura looked fatigued so he came out after 2 and 1/3 innings to let Asashi Imamura come on. In the fourth, Toshiro Ota bombed a solo homer, his first, and Case got a sac fly to make it 3-0. In the bottom half of the fourth, Ohmatsu railed a solo homer off of Imamura to make it 3-1. In the sixth, Kitoaji crushed a 3-run bomb to straight away center. Then Kimurai came on for the Marines and the very next batter, Gunderson, hit a solo shot to extend the lead to 7-1. In the sixth, Andy Gates came in for the Bears and shut down the sixth. In the top of the 7th, Ieyasu railed a two-run double to make it 9-1. In the bottom of 7, Kamiya came on for the Bears. In the top of the eighth, Ryosei Dan smashed a 2-R HR, his first to make it 11-1. Then, Nakaushiro came in for the Marines to shut it down. In the bottom of the eighth, Tadahito Iguchi ripped an RBI single that gave the Marines a small hope. Sari Harnish then came on to the ballgame for the Bears to try and end it. Josh Whitesell then got an RBI 1B, and Saburo knocked in a run on a double play ball. Ending the eighth, it was 11-4 Bears. In the ninth, with one out, Kijolto Rin was brought in to end the game. Rin was able to get out of a bases loaded jam to end the game. 11-4.
