I bet you didn't expect that zero ;)

Yeah, I really didn't expect Maeda to lose many games at all. Too bad huh MrKonami?

So, I've decided that I will import a few of the top players that were created on this forum, so I've decided to implement Masato Kurihara, Raicho Tsuruga, and Sosa Kenobi as draft picks.

Hitting contagious as Bears squeak by Hawks

Hitting was the thing tonight as 32 runs were scored in total. In the first inning, DeMarcus Gunderson got things going for the Bears with a two run double, then Nick Lockhart, whose bat has come alive as of late, smoked an RBI single, making it 3-0 in the first. The Hawks returned for 4 runs off of Lin Park. In the second, Kitoaji and Gunderson hit back-to-back homers, making it 6-4, Ryosei Dan, later smashed an RBI double, making it 7-4 in the second. In the third, Kitoaji hit a 2-R single to make it 9-4. In the fourth, Ieyasu got a two run triple, and was sacrificed in on a fly ball by Kyoro Hakeyama, it was then 12-4 and the Hawks thought they needed a comeback. Kokubo smoked a solo shot, and Tamura ripped an RBI single to make it 12-6 in the fifth. In the Bears half of the sixth, Ryosei Dan bombed a 2-R HR, and Ieyasu drove a sacrifice fly, making it 15-6 in the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh, for the Hawks, Tamura drove a 2-R 1B, Akashi smoked an RBI single, and Kokubo got a base knock, making it 15-11. In the eighth, Tessai Yamaguchi had fire in his eyes, smashing a solo homer, his 29th of the season. Then, Ieyasu smacked an RBI 2B, and Kyoro Hakeyama ripped an RBI double of his own, making it 18-11. In the eighth, Akashi hit another RBI single for the Hawks making it 18-12. In the ninth, the Hawks scored two, not enough to win it, in this very high scoring affair.

NPB Adds New Draft?

In the 2012 draft, the NPB is going to be adding a second draft, which will occur after the amateur draft in December. This draft will be called the advanced draft and all of the players that believe they are not considered amateurs will be selected in that draft. That draft will consist of 3 rounds, 42 players will be selected. The draft will take place in January.

Sapporo Bears Amateur Draft Results

1st Round
P - Ichiyanagi AGE(28)
TSPD(151) - CTRL - E(41) - STAM - D(50)
SLD(1), VSLD(4)

While Ichiyanagi is old, his ability to develop quickly will help him out. He could easily be a solid reliever next year for the Bears in their struggling bullpen with his nasty slider combo. He throws hard as well, making him the hardest thrower on the team.

2nd Round
1B - Einishi AGE(22)
TRJ(2) - CON - C(61) - PWR - D(53) - RSPD - F(38) - ASTR - E(47) - FLD - E(49) - ERR - E(43)

The Bears needed another first baseman in Einishi. While he is currently an upgrade over Ota at first, the Bears have brought in veteran Bobby Crosby to play first. The future is undecided for Einishi now.

3rd Round
P - Matsukura AGE(25)
TSPD(147) - CTRL - C(60) - STAM - D(59)
CB(3), SFF(2)

Matsukura can easily be a stater for the Bears in 2013. He's got some good junk and some solid stamina to go 5+ innings a game. Matsukura is also quite younger than Ichiyanaga and has better control as well.

2013 NPB Advanced Draft

It's 2013, and our 2013 NPB Advanced Draft has come to a close. The top 10 players selected in this draft:

1
3B Sosa Kenobi - Yokohama DeNa BayStars
TRJ(4) - CON - A(84) - PWR - S(100) - RSPD - A(85) - ASTR - A(80) - FLD - A(80) - ERR - A(96)

Kenobi will help the BayStars tremendously. Kenobi is more than a 5-tool player, he is a leader. Kenobi, at this point, looks to be the triple crown winner some year in his future.

2
C/1B Masato Kurihara - Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles
TRJ(4) - CON - C(67) - PWR - S(100) - RSPD - A(87) - ASTR - C(60) - FLD - D(52) - ERR - C(63)

Kurihara looks like a bit of a down graded Sosa Kenobi. Kurihara could be considered a 5-tool players, but his defense lacks. Kurihara looks like he could be the best catcher Japan has ever seen.

3
SS Raicho Tsuruga - Chunichi Dragons
TRJ(3) - CON - B(74) - PWR - S(100) - RSPD - C(69) - ASTR - B(74) - FLD - B(73) - ERR - B(79)

Tsuruga is yet another, top 5-tool player. Kenobi, Kurihara, and Tsuruga will all help their struggling teams tremendously. Tsuruga has great contact and power, but strikes out a lot, unfortunately for him. Tsuruga definitely has the skills to bat .300 and hit 30 homers every year.

4
P Craig Stevens - Hanshin Tigers
TSPD(134) - CTRL - C(67) - STAM - S(100)
ORIG(7) - Killball

Stevens has great ability as a starting pitcher, and has a great curveball. The only drawback for Craig is his velocity not even being able to hit 85 MPH on the gun.

5
P Harai Yaka - Chiba Lotte Marines
TSPD(147) - CTRL - D(57) - STAM - B(78)
CB(3), SHU(4)

Yaka will be a solid pitcher for the pitching-minded Marines. With Naruse, Karakawa, and now Yaka, the Marines pitching will help the team out greatly. Expect Yaka to put up a sub-3 ERA and win 10+ games.

6
P King-Kong Khao - Kyoto Nintendo Whalers
TSPD(136) - CTRL - A(80) - STAM - A(98)
KNCB(5)

Khao is one of the best, if not the best pitchers in the advanced draft class. Khao has incredible stamina, but throws slow. His knuckle curve is a plus pitch and compliments his softer fastball.

7
OF Toby Ita - Hiroshima Toyo Carp
TRJ(2) - CON - B(70) - PWR - B(71) - RSPD - C(69) - ASTR - C(67) - FLD - D(56) - ERR - D(59)

Ita is another 5-tool stud outfielder that will help the Carp. Ita can bat .300 and hit 15-20 home runs, along with stealing 25+ bases for the Carp.

8
OF Samurai Ishikawa - Tokyo Yakult Swallows
TRJ(2) - CON - C(67) - PWR - C(68) - RSPD - C(64) - ASTR - A(83) - FLD - D(59) - ERR - A(83)

Ishikawa should be a solid pick up for the Swallows. Ishikawa has a good bat with solid pop, solid speed, an excellent arm, and almost never makes errors, making him another 5-tool player.

9
P Yoda Aoi - Sapporo Bears
TSPD(148) - CTRL - D(57) - STAM - A(84)
Marine Ball(4), SNK(3)

Aoi is the younger brother of the submarine pitcher Aoi, that played for Mantsuman University. Aoi has a marine ball, just like his sister, but it isn't quite as good as hers. Aoi will help the struggling rotation of the Bears out very much in 2013.

10
1B Mamoru Suechii - Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters
TRJ(3) - CON - C(60) - PWR - B(78) - RSPD - C(64) - ASTR - E(42) - FLD - E(48) - D(58)

Suechii is a solid first baseman that the Fighters picked up this year. Suechii can bash the ball and even has speed to leg out some triples here and there. Suechii should slug 25 homers for the Fighters in 2013.

We will see you soon with 2012-13 NPB free agency.
