That's because it's Japanese rules.

There are extra innings, but I think once you reach a certain inning the game ends

More on the rule, players use public transportation to get to and from ballparks... So they need to end before the trains close down. It's like hockey! But the Japanese hockey scene is wrought with tragedy (Own goal at the olymp-OH....) :(

Pregame Notes: A tie is better than a loss, I suppose, but winning is why we play. Yes, I'm still grumbling over that. It never happened in the MLB!

But anyways, today, we face the hard-throwing Izumi Kiyota. All he has is a fastball and a flimsy circle-change. What I am worried about is Taylor. This is the best team he'll be facing and I just... I don't know. I hope he does well, though.

I'm giving Collins the day off today, I felt like he needed it. Cho will be taking his place in right, hitting 2nd.

Boxscore:

Nagoya Aliens 2 - Kobe Beef 3

Aliens' Batting
A. Henderson - 2-5, 3B, 2 RBI, .314
L. S. Cho - 2-5, .333
R. Perez - 2-4, .357
E. Martinez - 2-4, E, .371
D. Sarfate - 2-4, R, K, .287
A. Weiss - 0-3, BB, .389
W. James - 1-4, .376
R. Morgan - 0-3, R, BB, .125
G. Taylor - 1-1, SH, .333
PH - J. Emerson - 1-1, .500
R. Diaz - 0-0, .000
B. Wade - 0-0, .000
PH - P. Gomez - 0-1, .500
M. Jones - 0-0, .000

Beef Batting
N. Takaguchi - 1-5, 2B, R, .357
T. Ohnuma - 4-5, HR (8), RBI, 2 R, SB, .343
S. Morino - 1-5, .330
T. Imanami - 1-5, RBI, .218
I. Nakamura - 2-5, RBI, .262
J. Hisamoto - 1-4, .320
K. Saeki - 1-4, .227
R. Ono - 0-4, K, .216
I. Kiyota - 0-2, K, SH, .143
PH - K. Nishiguchi - 0-1, .250
Y. Yoshikawa - 0-0, .000
A. Hirai - 0-0, .000

Aliens' Pitching
Geoff Taylor - 6 IP, 6 H, K, 0 BB, 2 ER, 3.38
Ricardo Diaz - 2 IP, H, K, 0 ER, 0.77
Bryan Wade - IP, H, 0 ER, 0.00
Max Jones - 0.2 IP, 3 H, ER, 2.35 (L, 0-1)

Beef Pitching
Izumi Kiyota - 8 IP, 12 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 2 ER, 6.23
Yuji Yoshikawa - IP, 0 ER, 1.42 (H)
Akira Hirai - IP, H, 0 ER, 2.61 (W, 3-0)

Player(s) of the Game: Image <- Ichiban Nakamura

Postgame Notes - Our not-losing streak is done, sadly.

Taylor struggled a bit in the first, allowing the first run of the game to score on a single by Imanami. He gave up his second run on a hanger to Takeshi Ohnuma, the Beef's right fielder. I thought he did pretty well, otherwise.

Henderson drove in our first two runs with a bases-loaded triple. Unfortunately, the Beef made a good relay to stop the third run from scoring, though it didn't help that it was Taylor who was on first.

The pitching for both sides took over from there, with no runs scoring until the bottom of the 10th.

That was when after 2 singles, a failed bunt, and a fielder's choice which resulted in runners on the corners with 2 outs, Ichiban Nakamura came through with a walk-off single on an 0-2 count. It stung a lot, if you couldn't tell.

As expected, Greene announced that as expected, Mason and Robinson will be called up and Jackson would be sent down. However, instead of sending down Scott, the pitcher who took Robinson's place, he decided to send down Jones instead. I had to give the news to Jones, and he was surprisingly reasonable about it. He then told me that he'll be the hardest worker on the secondary squad and that he'll be back before I knew it.

In an effort to make this log more interactive (and active - period!), I have come up with this:

If you currently are the agent of a player, I will allow you to be the player himself. If you want your player to interact with others, whether it be Huitt, other players, or the media, then PM me with what you want your player to say and it will most likely be included here (with slight editing, but that shouldn't be a problem). If you need ideas for how you need your player to be, see the team introduction post on page 3.

I doubt anyone will actually do this, I'm just throwing it out there.

Pregame Notes: It would be really nice to get the win here. I really don't want to get swept (my definition of getting swept here means not getting a win in the series). Chen is starting today, and his job is on the line, so he has a lot to prove. He'll go up against fellow #6 starter Shohei Sawamura, who has succeeded to the tune of a 2.76 ERA, largely because of his best pitch, his shuuto.

Hopefully getting Mason back in the lineup will bring the team energy up, I can't wait to see how he does in his return.

Boxscore:

Nagoya Aliens 3 - Kobe Beef 6

W. James - 0-3, SH, .365
E. Mason - 1-4, 2B, .304
S.M. Chen - 1-1, SH, .333
PH - J. Emerson - 0-1, .333
B. Wade - 0-0, .000

Player(s) of the Game: Image <- Shinji Morino

Postgame Notes - A gut-wrenching loss today.

Mason had a nice return, getting the team's first hit in the top of the third, a leadoff double to left-center. Unfortunately, we could not drive him in in that inning.

Chen actually pitched quite decent, his one blemish being an Imanami solo shot in the bottom of the 4th. Overall, he pitched 6 innings, giving up 1 run, and recording 2 strikeouts. I guess that wasn't too bad. (i did something there)

Wade gave up his first two runs of the campaign via a 2-run blast by Beef 3B Kenji Saeki. The homer gave the Beef some much-needed insurance runs, making the Beef lead 3-0 going into the 8th inning.

The said lead would not last, as with runners on 2nd and 3rd, "El Toro" Martinez launched a 3-run blast over the center-field wall, tying the game up at 3. It was his 14th of the season, and it knocked out Sawamura, who had been stellar for the previous 7 innings.

The bullpen surprisingly was very bad this game, as in addition to the 2 runs Wade gave up, Ricardo Diaz gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th, capped off by a 2-run opposite field shot by Nakamura. That would all but seal a win for the Beef.

I assured myself that this series was just a fluke, I mean, we won 10 straight going into it! However, a part of me believes that this series begins the start of a regression, which I really don't want. I believe in this team, though, and I'll do my best to make sure that scenario never happens.

I should have put in Rodriguez instead of Diaz today. Oh well, what's done is done...

We had a much-needed off day today, we needed some time to clear our heads from that mess of a series. We're headed home to face the Baystars.

Nothing much to say, let's just go out and kick some ass!

Game 1

Well, I'd say we bounced back quite well. :)

We continue our homestand as the Tigers travel into town to face us.

Game 1

Overall, a very good stretch. We hit a skid near the end of it, but still, I'm happy with the 5-3 record.

I plan on doing a big recap for the end of this Giants series because it marks the beginning of the month, and also, I wanted to create a separate entry in this journal for the team's end-of-month stats.

Does Martinez have 18 or 19 homers?

19.

He hit one in one of the 2 games where I didn't keep track of homers.

Hans Gruber needs to play more.

Also, for your interactive idea. I would do that.

It looks as if the CL playoff race has already molded itself in, as the top 3 teams have clearly set themselves apart from the rest of the pack.
