So, since I will be getting '12 soon I'd like to know the controls on PS3. Are they mostly the same as they were for '08 on PS2?

I would assume so, yes

Only, when pitching, you must select the up option to throw a fastball

If you don't is it a slowball? Basically the equivalent to a meatball?

EDIT: So then,?

Batting
X=Swing
O=Bunt
R1 or R2=Change to Big Swing
Analog Stick=Move batting cursor

Pitching
Analog Stick=Choose Pitch
X=Pitch
Mashing X=Throw harder?
R1 or R2=Pitch Out

Running
Triangle=Advance all Runners
O=Retreat all Runners
Square + Analog Stick=Advance Specific Runner
X + Analog Stick=Retreat Specific Runner

Fielding
O=Dive
Square=Slide
X and Triangle=Jump
Analog Stick=Move Player
L1=Change player

Are those basically the correct controls?

For pitching, no mashing

And for fielding, X does diving, jumping and sliding, I believe.

For pitching I usually press x 3 times. When you have pink, I usually get top speed every time.

I never did have to press X at all... If the pitcher is pink or red faced he will have either a mph/kph off or on his average speed for his fastball, I'll have to play a game and try it out!
