It was 11:07 pm and I, Carson Harris, had just gotten back to the hotel I was staying in near Fukuoka. I went up to my room, room 523, and tried the key card but it wouldn't work. I tried again. Still didn't work. I decided to try a third time and if that didn't work I would go ask for a new one. I tried again and failed. I went down the elevator again, and asked for a new key card. This time the card worked on the first try. I stepped inside the room and turned on a light. I looked at my phone and saw it was at 7% charge. I found the charger and plugged it in, and just then, got a call from a familiar number. "Ryozo Kato, eh?" I said as I hit "answer". "Hello?" he asked. "Are you busy?" asked Ryozo. "I can be," I said. "No, no. I called to ask if you were still interested in the Flyers' GM job now that there are going to be 10 more expansion teams." "Of course I am!" "Okay, then, bye." I went into his room and took off my uncomfortable suit and pants, and went to take a shower. I had just taken off my shoes when the phone rang again. It was Kato again. "Hey, we're thinking about using some players in an upcoming series of exhibition games, do any stars come to mind?" "Um...there's one pitcher, Ohno, or something, and then a hitter, Kurihara, who hit a career-low 59 home runs last year for the Knights. There are also a couple good third basemen, Wamoshi and Atsubare, both great hitters and fielders, but Wamoshi is more of a contact hitter, and faster." "Okay, thank you," said Ryozo, and he hung up. I went back in my room to take a shower but I was just so tired that I fell asleep on the floor in a white undershirt and my "lucky boxers", they were once green with yellow stripes but had turned into a sort of barfish color from years of use. The next morning I woke up at 8 and tried to take a shower but water wouldn't come out. Then I looked in my small closet for clean clothes and found none. I looked in my dresser and only found a pair of red boxers and a pair of blue boardshorts that were a bit big on me. I decided anything worked at this point and put them on. I found a clean undershirt, and exchanged the two shirts. I went down to eat breakfast. They said they had run out of everything but the corned beef hash, but of course I'm allergic to potatoes so I just picked out the meat, which wasn't much. I went to the front desk and told them there was no water, they said that it was fixed now. I went back up to my room and it had been fixed. I took a nice, long shower and brushed my teeth and such, after that I put my clothes back on and promptly got a call from Ryozo. "Let's meet at Wada's Steakhouse for lunch today at 11," he said. "Okay," I said. "Business casual," he reminded me. Because that meant "nice clothes", I went down to a local clothing store and picked out a blue polo and a pair of khaki shorts, and I got a 20000¥ gift card because I figured I would have to go back. We met later, simply to discuss the games and how they would be played. "There will be two teams, the Reds, featuring Ohno and Wamoshi, and the Blues, featuring Kurihara and Atsubare. The Reds' so-called home games will have the pitcher bat, the Blues' will use the DH rule. We will play all 7 games at Blue Stadium." "Okay, thanks for the info," I said. "My treat," he said as he paid the bill, which came to 11400¥. (Was that too long?) |

ERISA Dude: The shoes were a last-minute addition, that does make more sense though. Test99: I imported Kurihara into my 2012 game and two teams of Success players will face off in a 7-game series to try and determine whether Ohno or Kurihara (both Geniuses) is the better player. |

No, it's between the Reds and the Blues. The Reds have Ohno and the Blues have Kurihara. |

What's this?! An update first-person by Kurihara. So don't you get ya'self confused, aight? March 11, 2017 7:00 I awoke to my alarm's usual chimes. I got out of bed, got my jogging stuff on, and headed on downstairs to my kitchen. I ate my usual; 3 eggs scrambled, toast, bacon, and a good ol' orange juice. I looked at my calender to see how far I was going to be going today. "Only 7 miles today. Not bad." I said to myself. I went outside, and saw that it was a damp, overcast day. "Perfect day for running!" 7:23 Just as I was staring mile 6, I got a call on my cell phone. "Hm... That's weird. No one calls me during my running. They know not to call me while I'm running." I picked up. "Hello?" I said "Ah, Kurihara-kun, just the guy I wanted to talk to!" Well of course I'm who you wanted to talk to, this is my phone. "Uh... Yeah. Who is this?" I asked "This is Carson Harris!" "Carson... Who?" "Carson Harris! You know, new GM of the Fukuoka Flyers..." "Nope, not ringing any bells." "Oh... Well... Uh, alright. Anyways, I just wanted to ask if you would like to compete in a competition to see who the best player is. You or Ohno." "Ohno...? Who's that?" "He's the best damn pitcher I've ever seen. Anyways, we're holding the event at Blue Stadium. So it shouldn't be a problem for you to get there." "Wait, Blue Stadium? Why didn't I know about this?" "Whatever do you mean?" "That's where we play. I should've known... No matter. I accept your challenge. I'm never one to turn down a fight." "Excellent! I'll see you soon." "Alright." I hung up, and went on to finish my running. I finished the 7 miles in 31 minutes and 18 seconds. Eh, I could've done better. |
