Finally caught up with the few pages I've missed. Poor Jack, always one for accidents. But, it's good to see that the Knights are off to as good a start as ever.

Next game shall be played at some point soon, hopefully, probably. Summer homework and Shin Megami Tensei IV are currently putting Power Pros on the back burner, tho :|

We're playing the Swallows today. They're hovering around .500. Trouble is, though, is that one of the best pitchers this decade is pitching, the rookie Nobuhiro Shinboku (151 [94], S, A). This may just turn out to be interesting.

Knights Blown Out

Meiji Jingu Stadium, Tokyo – At the hands of the rookie phenom, Nobuhiro Shiboku, the Knights’ bats were kept quiet. They were held to only one run, which came in the bottom half of the ninth. That run was due in large part because of Shigeno’s pinch hit double, the only extra base hit the Knights had. “I just took a swing at the first pitch and the ball, luckily, hit the bat.” He said afterwards.

Jian Shen took quite the beating, going only 2.1 innings and letting up SEVEN runs. “A joke. This game was a joke.” He was heard saying as he left the field.

“Shen hasn’t been performing like we’ve wanted him to. The bullpen is a very possible place for him to end up. We feel like he’ll perform better with a reliever role.” Manager Kensou Mori said after the game in a press conference.

Shen currently is 3-4 with a 7.99 ERA.

Jeez, we really aren't getting any breaks. First Shinboku, and now the number 2 pick of the draft, the other rookie phenom, Seiya Naka (160 [99], E, A). Plus, he's got a gyroball spin to his fastball, to boot. The Baystars are in the same boat as the Swallows, they're right around .500, this should be interesting.

Knights Lose A Close One

Yokohama Stadium, Yokohama – Phew, facing the two rookie pitchers almost back-to-back has proven tough for the Knights. Nothing much of note happened in last night’s game, other than Naka’s superb performance.

One thing, though, was that Kurihara started up an interesting double play in the bottom of the 5th, picking up a grounder and stepping on first. Then, he threw it over to third to get Shimozono out at third to end the inning.

Fujita did well too, going 8 strong innings and letting up three runs while striking out five. “I suppose I did okay.” He said

I had called Kensou Mori, our manager, down to my office. There's something pressing that I want to talk with him about.
He walked in and took a seat in the chair on the other side of my desk.
"What was it you wanted to talk with me about, Allen?" he asked
"Well, I'm sure you're aware of our pitching problem."
"Yes. Of course."
"Well, what if I told you I have an idea to fix it."
"What is it?"

I looked Kensou in the eye, leaned forward in my seat, and gave the most serious look I could muster.
"A trade."
"A trade? Why did you call me in, then?"
"Kanazawa."
"W-what?"
"I want to trade Kanazawa to the H-"
He cut me off
"Are you an idiot?"
"Now, now, hear me out, Mo-"
"Hear you out?! Absolutely not! You're talking about trading one of the most valuable players this team has!"
"We need pitchers, Mori. Kanazawa's the best chip we've got. I've got a plan to trade him to the Hawks for Morifuku, who's currently leading the Pacific League in saves, and Iwasaki, who, admittedly, isn't doing too great this year but he's really looking up. He's increased in skill a ton in the past three years, and he's only going up."
"I won't listen to this. This is insane. And to the Hawks?! They've been giving us trouble since the beginning, why would we help them?!"
"L-Listen, now. This is beneficial for both parties. Kanazawa will help them out. The pitchers will help us out even more. It's simple!"
"No, Jack."

Mori got up to leave.
"Kensou! Wait a second." He stopped and turned around, adjusting his glasses
"Listen," I started "I know that this is risky. I know that Kanazawa is a huge producer. I know all that. I also know that we need pitching. This is what I need to do! With Iwasaki, we can move Shen into the bullpen, and Morifuku will be an excellent set up guy to Makida! Hell, he's probably a better close than Makida is, he sure has more experience. Plus, we need some lefties in there. This is hard on me, too, Kensou. But this is what I have to do. Just... Just believe in me."
Kensou closed his eyes and gave a very large sigh.
"...If it's what has to be done then so be it. Jack, just know that I don't approve of this."
"It's what has to be done, Mori. I wouldn't do this if it wasn't."
He sighed again, and shook his head. "This is the wrong solution." he said, and walked out.

"N-No, this is what has to be done." I reassured myself, weakly.

I called the Hawks GM and proposed the trade.

"Yes."
"Yes, Kanazawa."
"Morifuku and Iwasaki, maybe some cash, too."

"Yes, I'm sure."

I hung up.
It's strange, he was continuing to ask if I was sure.
