Knights Retaliate

Miyagi Stadium, Sendai – After being completely annihilated in last night’s game; the Knights came back and won it. They didn’t really come together until the 6th, where they would plate 3 runs and take the lead from the Eagles. They wouldn’t look back from there.

Also, as Kurihara went 4-5 in the game, he’s now batting over .400, will he be able to keep it up?

Fujita’s Struggles Continue

Image
Image – Kei Nakamura

Sapporo Dome, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo – Young pitcher, Kazuya Fujita, who put together an incredible rookie season, winning the Rookie of the Year award without contest, has been struggling big time this season. In a performance that wasn’t bad by any means, Fujita’s record fell to 2-3. “I’m doing awful. My ERA is in the upper 4s, it’s embarrassing” he said in a press conference after the game. Manger Kensou Mori also commented, “We’re going to stick by Fujita. He’s led us to great things in the past; I feel that he can still do it now.”

The Knights have tonight’s game and then 4 days off, followed by interleague play begins. Unfortunately, the Knights will be taking on the Samurais, the only team with a better record in all of the NPB, standing at 28-4-0.

Yikes.

Also your catcher, Imanami (who's on the Eagles), in the game before the last one, went 3-4 with 5 RBIs. Including a grand slam.

He's got 18 homeruns right now. He's killin' it

My laziness was finally able to show up, and I ended up sleeping past noon.

We have four days off before interleague play starts up, and of course we're playing Stephen first.
And of course, they have a record that even surpasses ours.
Grrrrrrmm..
Hunh, I didn't even notice how hungry I was.
Perhaps a nice bowl of cereal will do.
I walked downstairs in nary but shorts.

Checking the fridge, I saw that my milk had expired two days ago.
Not one to risk it, I decided to head on out to the grocery store and buy some more milk.
"Oh, well, I do need some other things too." I said aloud, to rationalize my decision

13:04

I picked up my milk, along with a few other things (you know, eggs, juice, the regular suspects).
I did notice that I was lacking in the strawberry department, so I made my way over to the produce section.

As I was leaning over to pick up my strawberries, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

When I turned around, I quickly noticed the burgundy pants, grey waistcoat, black shirt and white tie.
"Mr. Allen, been a while, hasn't it?"
It was Hideaki Erina, the prosecutor in my trial.
His condescending tone of voice and his smirk still strike a chord a disdain to this day.
"Oh... Erina, good to see you again." I lied

Hideaki Erina, a man of 5 feet 9 inches is by far one of the must cunning men I've ever met. His affinity for suits rivals that of Kevin's, and they were, naturally, rivals in the courtroom. He wears a very nice shade of red slacks and a waistcoat at almost all times. Despite his small size, he shouldn't be looked down upon. Regardless of the person, Erina is able to use his masterful control of language to twist your words and make his point valid. I've never seen before, nor since, someone as intelligent as Hideaki. God, I'm gushing over him. Let the record show that Erina is a massive asshole.

"Likewise, Allen." He leaned in real close to me, "you were my first loss, you know that? My first case was a loss."
"Er... well, sorry about that."
"It can't be helped I suppose. You got off because you were innocent. That's a valid reason for failure on my part."
"Right."
"Well, Allen, it's funny I ran into you, actually. I hear your Knights are doing quite well. Is that true?"
"Uh, yeah. We're doing pretty good."
"Naturally, of course, I've attended a few games."
"I didn't know you followed baseball Hide-"
"Erina." he cut me off with his palm outstretched
"Er, right, Erina."
"Yes. I do follow baseball, Allen."
"Oh. Good."

...

"Well, uh, I guess I'll be seeing you then?" I said
"You most certainly will, Allen. I've moved to Kyoto. I'll be around."
"Oh, cool."
Not cool
Not cool

I hurried to the cashier and bought my things.

I went home and enjoyed a nice bowl of cereal and some strawberries.
"Was it worth it though?" I pondered, since, suddenly, Erina is back in my life.

It's funny, I didn't even realize back when the trial happened what it was based on. I'm glad I'm aware of the reference ;)

-ding-
My eyes creaked open as there was someone ringing my dorrbell.
"Gah, who could be here at this hour?"

I walked downstairs and cracked opened the door.
"Mr. Allen, funny running into you here." they said
The burgundy pants were unmistakable.
"Uh, Erina, why the hell are you at my house?"
"Oh, well the answer to that's quite simple. I live next door. I figured I should drop by and see how my lovely neighbor's doing."
He gave a wry smile.
Next door? This bastard...
"Oh, haha, good. Good."
"Quite. Now, Allen, I've been curious. Is there anywhere to buy a cup of coffee around here? I'm quite and avid coffee drinker and I've only had four cups today."
"It's 8, how did you already drink 4 cups of coffee?"
"Hot nights and even hotter coffee, Allen, that's one of my rules."
"Uh, Erina, it's morning. And it's not even really that hot."
"Regardless, Allen, lead me to the nearest coffee place."
"Uh, okay."
Why do I have to help him?
"Let me just go get changed." I said
"Of course. I'll be right here when you get back, Allen."

I went upstairs all the while telling myself he wouldn't dare look around my house.
I grabbed my khakis and a green t-shirt and made my way back downstairs.
Erina was exactly where he was standing before I left him, his arms still crossed behind his back.
"Uh, ready?" I asked
"Of course I am," He went into a whisper as he spun around on the heel of his right foot, "Jackie."
Jackie?

9:27

I walked him to the coffee house that Kevin showed me, Takegi Coffee

"Ah, Allen, seems you're pretty useful. I thank you for this."
"Oh, well, you're welcome Hide-"
He cut me off with his palm outstretched, "Erina."
"Right, uh, Erina.
He stared at me for a few seconds
"Alright, Allen, you can leave now." he said coldly
"Oh... I thought that-"
"That I wanted you to come in with me and spoil my coffee? That was a dark and bitter assumption you made, Allen. No. I moist certainly do not want you interfering with the aroma."
"B-but, I walked all this way."
"Yes, but if you recall that was on your own volition. I simply asked if there was a place I could buy coffee, I, in no way, asked for you to tag along."
"S-so, I just made this walk for nothing, then."
"Seems so, Allen."
"You asshole."
His crooked smile returned to his otherwise symmetrical face and chuckled.
"Shoo now, worm. I don't want your taint."

I obliged and made the long walk back to my house, my face slightly reddened and my mood severely worsened.

Can't wait until I get to see Erina's smug face everyday.

Sorry, but I don't remember and am too lazy to look. What trial is being referenced? It seems to be important, so I must know.

It's from back when Jackie first came over to Japan. I never really ended that arc, so

Yamanote Stadium, Sakai, Osaka – Well, now, last night’s game in Osaka was quite the thriller. The Knights were constantly working from behind as they fell behind in the first, with a homerun by Samurais young first baseman, Daisuke Yagi, who’s finally hit his stride in the NPB. But, a passed ball would tie it in the 5th.

But, in the very next inning, Arime drove in Sugiya with an RBI single, putting the Knights back behind. In the top of the 7th, the Knights faced a tough decision. Kura was standing on third, and Fujita was coming up with one out. Mori decided to pull Fujita and put in Shigeno to pinch hit. Shigeno hit a sharp grounder to Okazaki at second, and Kura broke on the crack of the bat. Shigeno was thrown out, and Kura barely beat the throw home. Game tied again!

BUT, in the bottom of the 8th, Okazaki hit a go-ahead homerun off of pitching coach, Ryan Techer to give the Samurais the lead once again.

BUT THEN, in the top of the 9th, Takuya Kanazawa came in to pinch hit for Muranaka and on the third pitch, he hits a no-doubter to right field. A pinch-hit-come-from-behind two run homerun to give the Knights the lead! Fujii would come in and close, getting the Samurais 1-2-3.
