The abhorrent incessant beeping of my alarm clock broke my slumber.
I hit the snooze button and somehow got myself out of bed.
My flight to Japan was in two hours, so I had to get myself ready.
I was all packed, since I took care of that yesterday, luckily.

I checked my phone, the only thing there was a text from my mother, "hav fun in japannnn luv u" it read.
Still nothing.

Landing back in Japan was a mix of nostalgia and sadness.
The incredibly crowded Kansai International Airport was as terrible as it usually is.
I got back to my condo and threw my bags on the couch.
I went up to my room and fell asleep.

I heard a muffled buzzing noise coming from my pocket.
Luckily, it was my phone.
"H-hello?"
"I hear you're back in Japan, Jack! How you doing?"
It was Matsuo
"Oh, hey boss. Yeah, I just got back a few hours ago. How's everyone doing?"
"Good, good. Practices are going well, Mori's been doing an excellent job whipping them into shape. The new rookies are looking great too."
"Cool."
"Alright, two days, don't forget!"
"Yep. See you."
"Bye now."

I hung up.
"Shit. I have to go in and tell them about the trade." I said aloud to my vacant house
"How am I going to go about that?"

Well, I guess today's the day.
I really don't know how I'm going to do this...

I called up the Carp's GM and formalized the deal, and I left for the clubhouse.

Everyone was getting dressed for practice.
Christ, what great timing.
When I walked in everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me.
Kura was the one to break the silence, "Jack? Where you been, dude?"
"Er... America. I was in an accident."
"Oh shit," he said "you good, man?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine."
"What are you doing here?" Shima bluntly asked
I let out a big sigh.
"Well, I've got some good news and some bad news."
"The good news, sir?" Kanazawa asked
"Well, uh, we'll be getting a new player tomorrow." I said, averting my eyes
"Oh, awesome! Who's it going to be?" Shimozono chimed in with his usual pep
"Erm, Kenta Maeda."
I heard a collective "whoaaa" from the guys, and they soon broke out into a full scale applause. It was quite the sight.
I looked specifically at the ones who would be gone (Shima, Matsunaga, Yamato, Ohtonari and Tohno) and felt hollow inside.
"Haha, if that's the good news the bad mustn't be anything!" Matsunaga said
I felt like I'd been shot. The was a lump in my throat.
"Well, uh, the bad news is that he, obviously, didn't come cheap... Uh, Matsunaga, Shima, Yamato, Ohtonari and Tohno... Pack your bags. You're all heading to Hiroshima."
I looked at the carpeted floor, trying to avoid all the eyes on me.

Someone came up and patted me on the back.
It was Yamato.
"Don't worry Jack, baseball's a business." He smiled, chuckled and went to his locker to grab his bag. Seeing his number 8 uniform hanging there in solitude was strange.
"I'll miss all you guys!" he said as he went walking out, his huge bag over his left shoulder.

Shima then got his things and left with a wave. Good ol' Shima, nothing gets to him.

Tohno was actually happy.
"So, this means I can start?!"
"Yeah, dude," Oda responded "the Carp are shit, so maybe you'll be starting." he added in a light punch to the shoulder and laughed.
"Hahah, oh shut up, man."
He put his hands on his knees and got himself out of his chair. "Well, later guys! We'll meet again soon."

I didn't even notice that Ohtonari had left, but when I looked at his locker, it was empty.

Matsunaga was the only one who was visibly upset.
"T-traded? You mean I won't be here anymore? N-no..."
I walked up to him and put my hand on his shoulder.
"Tsuyoshi, I'm really sorr-"
He slapped my hand off.
"And to a shit team too. Man, this blows." He interrupted me "Whatever. You've got that Zenigata kid to replace me anyways. I knew this would happen, I'm not needed anymore. I just wish I wasn't going to such a *(censored)* horrible team. Thanks, Allen."
He walked to the door.
"Bye Matty." Kura said as he opened it.
He waved, never turning around, and that was that.
I was hurt by Matsunaga's comments. All it did was compound my depression.
"Well, they will all be missed. But, we've got this season to worry about now. Plus, Maeda is a friend of mine, he'll mesh well with you all, I believe." Nomoto said in lieu of me
"Er... RIght, thanks, Nomoto. Maeda will be here tomorrow."

I walked out of the clubhouse.
"Well that could've gone better." I said to Matsuo who was waiting outside the door.
"Yeah." was all that he uttered.

Oh shit, Jackie, you done goofed.

could our young general managers had a worse day? probably not.

oh well, I love both logs.

I was waiting at the airport for Maeda's plane to come in.
Right as it did, a sea of the press-folk swarmed the exit of it. Maeda walked by, never even making any sort of acknowledgement of them.
I walked up to him.
"Welcome to the Knights, Maeda." I said, realizing midway through that it didn't sound nearly as excited as it should have.
"Er, thanks for the invite, Allen." he sternly replied. "It'll be nice to finally be on a good team. I'll do everything in my power to be the best ace this team has seen."
"Sweet."
I drove him to the clubhouse, trying my best not to run over the absurd amount of camera-wielding people.

When we walked in the door, everyone was once again there.
Nomoto quickly got up and shook Maeda's hand.
"Everyone," he started "my good friend, Kenta Maeda has finally arrived! Let's make sure to give him a proper Knights welcome."
"Yooo, what's up my dude?" Oda began the welcome
"Uh, nothing much. I've heard a lot about you guys," Maeda bowed "I hope that I won't be a bother."
"Oh, psh, don't worry, man. You'll be fine. Oda's the only bother." Kura said
"Haha, shut up, dude."
Maeda smiled. Hopefully it'll all work out.

I quickly hung up and lobbed my phone on my bed.
