October 28, 1995

"Fly ball deep left-center! Grissom on the run! Yes! Yes! Yes! The Atlanta Braves have given you a championship!" Skip Caray screamed as my whole family jumped.
"Finally, the Braves won!" My dad yelled as he kissed my mother.

Now, you see, I grew up in Newton, Massachusetts. But, both my mother and father were from Atlanta and were enormous Braves fans.

I was only 8 at the time, and Stephen was just 5, but the call still rings in my head.

At that moment, I knew that baseball was going to be my life.

After my dad was done with my mother, I decided to tell him about my plan. "Dad, I'm going to play for the Braves when I grow up." I said to him with utmost confidence "Jack, if you think that you can, I'm sure you can." he reassured me. I nodded my head with a huge smile on my face, and went off to bed, since it was late. Of course, though, I couldn't get to sleep. I mean, the Braves just won the World Series! How could I sleep? Plus, it was Saturday, so I could stay up late anyways.

October 29, 1995

Staying up late was a bad idea, since I woke up at the ridiculous hour of 9. TOO LATE. My mother, still happy about last night, whipped up some pancakes and bacon. Stephen was the one who woke me up to tell me about the pancakes. Needless to say, I jumped out of bed, sprinted downstairs, and ate my pancakes.

My dad was on the phone with his sister, I only heard him say "God, it was amazing."
