Yes!

Though, it's $90 or so, and only for the PS3 and the PSP. (I have the PS3 version).

But if you can get it, get it!

Late Inning Drama

Image – Taiga Kura

Kleenex Stadium Miyagi, Sendai – The Knights were ahead almost the entire game, with the exception of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd innings. Egawa got it started with an RBI double, but got out trying to stretch it into a triple. The Knights wouldn’t score again until the 4th. In that inning, though they could have easily scored more, if it weren’t for a bad baserunning error by Kura and Shimozono. Shimozono was on first, and got into a rundown. Kura then took off for the plate, but was caught, and then Shimozono was tagged as well to end the inning. Embarassing, but no matter!

In the 7th, The Knights had bases loaded, with no outs, and Fukuchi came up to the plate. He’s been seriously struggling, batting only .150, with no homeruns, and only 4 RBIs. And he grounded into a 5-2-3 double play. Further worsening his mood.

In the 8th, Tsuchiya Teppei of the Eagles got his 1,000th career hit, which was a double to right. Congratulations to him! Also, Kurihara is the first player in the NPB to hit 10 homeruns this season! Congratulations to him too!

Tohno Makes A Splash

Image – Hiyama and Egawa

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto - The first home game for the Knights proved to be quite the show for the home crowd. Though, for some reason, Kurihara wasn’t in the starting lineup yesterday. Manger Kensou Mori spoke about this, “He needed some time off, even the best of the best need a break sometimes.” Luckily, that is the only reason he didn’t play. Also, Tohno got his first start yesterday, and boy did he do well. In his first at-bat he fought off tough pitches to make the count 2-2, and then Park threw a meatball right down the heart of the plate. Tohno cranked it to right, for his first homerun, and first 2 RBIs of his career. A homerun in his first at-bat! Congratulations! He would go on to hit a double, and a suicide squeeze to get 2 more RBIs. The game had an exciting ending, Kitagawa hit one deep to left, and it bounced off of the wall, Shigeno played it perfectly, threw it in, and got Kitagawa out to end the game (they would score a run though). 3 people hit their first homerun of the season, Egawa in the 1st, Tohno in the 2nd, and Hidaka in the 6th.

With the first game in Blue Stadium, there are also a bunch of other firsts.

First hit: Sakaguchi, a leadoff single in the top of the 1st
First Knights hit: Egawa, a homerun (on a contact swing!) in the bottom of the 1st
First homerun: Egawa, in the bottom of the 1st
First RBI: Egawa, in the bottom of the 1st
First double: Matsunaga, in the bottom of the 2nd
First strikeout: Hiyama strikes out Moriyama in the top of the 3rd
First steal: Kanazawa, strangely, with a straight steal of 2nd, in the bottom of the 3rd

Kurihara Hits 3 In Knights Loss

Image – Atsunori Inaba

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – Thank the lord for Kurihara. He was the only one to provide any offense for the Knights, in their 5-3 loss yesterday to the Fighters. He hit 3 homeruns, in the 4th, 6th and 9th innings. Other than him, the team had an off day, getting only 10 hits, and scoring only 3 runs. Kurihara spoke about his performance after the game, “I suppose I was the only one seeing the ball,” he said “but I only accounted for 30% of the hits, so others were getting on base, it’s just that we couldn’t capitalize on any of the opportunities. It’s weird to lose, you know? Man, Makida’s speech pattern is rubbing off on me!”

Shima was handed his first career loss, going only 6 1/3 innings, giving up all 5 of the runs the Fighters got. Both he and manager Kensou Mori spoke about this after the game.
“I had a bad outing. It was embarrassing, but it happened. And I have to deal with it.” Shima said
“Shima had good stuff, and had a fine start by all means. The offense just didn’t provide anything for him. Which was odd for us, only 3 runs. We’ll be having a short team meeting in the morning, to talk about this.” Mori said.

Also, the players of April were announced, and BOTH of them were Knights players! Kurihara won fielder of the month, batting .361, with 15 homeruns, and 32 RBIs.
Yamato won pitcher of the month, going 6-0 with a tiny ERA of 2.13.

Congratulations to both of them!

Kanazawa Wins It!

Image – Takuya Kanazawa

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – It was a tight game. A VERY tight game. The Knights were losing for most of it, that is, until the 8th. When Kanazawa stepped up to the plate, with a man on, down 5-4, he hit a bomb to left on the first pitch from Lerew. It hit the scoreboard. And the Knights would take the lead 6-5! Makida then closed it out, but he made it interesting. Kokubo hit one to left that bounced of the very tip of the wall, which would result in only a double. They wouldn’t score, and the Knights got their 25th victory of the year. Makida is 6 for 6 in save opportunities, with a 0.00 ERA. He spoke about this after the game, “I’m doing well this year, huh? I like getting saves, and getting people out! It’s exciting!”

Shimozono got hit in the head in the 7th inning, but he stayed in the game. Further tests showed that he is fine. “It hurt, sure. But I know it was an accident, so no hard feelings.” He said.

Chavez Homers To Victory

Image – Joe Chavez

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – This game was a pitchers duel, and ended up being one of the worst games of the year for the Knights. They only had 5 hits, and scored only 2 runs (both of which came off of a Kanazawa homerun in the 4th inning). The Eagles, on the other hand, had a very nice 6th inning, hitting 3 homeruns. Back-to-back homeruns by Hijirisawa, and Matsui tied the game up at 2, and then 2 batters later, they took the only lead they would need, on a solo homerun by Chavez. The Eagles would go on to put up another run in the 9th on a sacrifice fly by Shima after a Chavez triple. Ota then came in for the bottom half of the 9th, and shut down the Knights, striking out Matsunaga, and getting Egawa and Kanazawa to ground out.

On the positive side, Kanazawa’s homerun was his 20th on the year! Congratulations to him!

Kanazawa Wins It Again!

Image – Takuya Kanazawa

Yamanote Stadium, Sakai, Osaka – Phew. All I have to say is phew. The Knights won a thriller last night, as they were losing almost the entire game! Until the 8th. Since we’re playing a Central League team, in their ballpark, there is no DH. So Kanazawa had to sit out. Though he would play a BIG part in the victory.

Takahama came in to pitch for the 8th, and right-off-the-bat, Shimozono got a hit, then Nomoto did. And 2 batters later, Atori was scheduled to bat, but he was taken out, and Kanazawa would pinch hit for him. First pitch, he hits a rocket, and it goes right over the fence in left-center. A pinch-hit-come-from-behind-3-run homer to take the lead 4-3 in the 8th inning!

Koyama pitched a shutout 8th, and Makida came in to close.

He made it interesting, letting 2 men on, but getting Okazaki to line out. The feared Ken Naitoh came in to pinch hit for the pitcher, and he fought off pitch after pitch until the count was full. Makida threw a V-Slider, and Naitoh hit a bullet to first, Kanazawa dove… And made the catch! He then tagged out Suzuki who was mid way between 1st and 2nd to end the game! A victory for the Knights against their rivals, the Samurais!

Kanazawa spoke after the game, “[Takahama] gave me a pitch to hit, and I hit it. It was great, getting all those high fives in the dugout, and special handshakes we all have. I’m happy I could contribute to the win!”

Kurihara and Kanazawa are 1st, and 2nd in both the homerun and RBI race respectively. Thankfully, their both on this team!

Also, at one point in this game, Kurihara’s batting average was .400, will he be able to have a .400 batting average come the end of the season? Who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see!

- Takaharu Sonada

I’ll be playing all 3 of the games we have against the Samurais, since these are the only 3 all season (excluding the potential of the playoffs).

My phone rung at a very early hour, 2:00. It was Preston, the first time he's called me since we've joined the Knights.
"Hello?" I said
"Hey, Jack! It's been awhile, eh?" He replied
"Yeah, I suppose it has. Why are you calling at 2:00?"
"I found a couple of new kids, coming up in this year's draft, I thought you might want to look at them."
"Right now?"
"Yes."
"Alright... I'll be right down."

I hung up, and left for the new office, which was in the building right behind the left field wall of Blue Stadium.

Preston was waiting for me by the door.
I was shocked to see him sans Mark.
But regardless, we went into his office.

"Alright Jack, I've got a bunch of kids for you to think about." Preston said
"How many, exactly?"
"Uh... Hold on, let me check... Seven."
"Seven, huh?"
"Yep, 3 pitchers, and 4 fielders."
"Alright, tell me about them."
"Ready? I'll start off with the pitchers.

First off is:
Toshiya Kura
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
23, L/L, 151 km/h (94 mph), E, D, Drop curve - 4, cutter - 2
Bio: He's Taiga's older brother! He chose to go to college, rather than going into the draft 6 years ago. He's got a good fastball, that remains in the upper 140's and 150's, not much control, or stamina... But it would be interesting to have him with his brother.
Personality: Very much like Taiga, he was incredibly popular in school. And always has a following. Very outgoing

Yoshifumi Muranaka
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
22, L/L, 146 km/h (91 mph), C, E, Knuckle curve - 4, changeup - 2
Bio: He's pretty good, with decent control, decent pitches, and a good fastball, that's almost always at 146 km/h. He too, is coming out of college.
Personality: Almost always happy, plus, he's very kind

Junsaku Inaba
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
18, R/R, 149 km/h (93 mph), C, E, changeup - 3, curveball - 2
Bio: He's good for a high-school student, but other than that he's only average
Personality: Very kind, but also very quiet

Huh? How do you like them?"
"I think Kura would be the best option, but they would all work, in my opinion. Who do you think?" I asked Preston
"Well, I think...

Preston's response:
A. Kura, he's definitely the best here.
B. Muranaka, I like that he's always happy, it'll bring the team's spirit up.
C. Inaba...
D. (other)"
"I see. What about the fielders?" I asked him
"Lets see, we've got:

Takayuki Kanamori
AGE, POSITION, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
18, 2B, N/A, L/R, 3, B, B, B, C, C, D
Bio: He's good at hitting, both contact wise, and power wise, plus he has some speed, and a pretty good arm for a second baseman.
Personality: Outgoing, and somewhat conceited.

Iruma Nakata
AGE, POSITION, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
18, 3B, 1B, R/R, 3, B, B, A (ish), D, D, D
Bio: You know him, Jack, good contact, good power, good speed, bad at fielding.
Personality: Quiet

Koyato Oda
AGE, POSITION, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
18, SS, N/A, L/R, 3, A, C, B, C, D, D
Bio: He's like Kura, in fact, I believe they know eachother. Oda was one year junior to Kura, and always looked up to him. Oda's good at everything. He chokes up on his bat, so he has very good batspeed.
Personality: He knows he's good, but is still very kind

Akinobu Komatsu
AGE, POSITION, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
18, OF, N/A, L/R, 2, A, E, A, C, D, D
Bio: He is a king in the contact category. AND he's got some serious speed. He's a very smart ball player, and compensates for his poor fielding with his great range.
Personality: Quiet, humble, and really knows his stuff. He plays 110% all the time, and will do whatever he needs to get some time in center.

I think the fielders are the better ones, but what do you think, Jack?"
"I like all of them, especially Oda and Nakata. We could pick up Oda, and switch him to a second baseman, and move Nomoto over to third since Fukuchi isn't doing so well right now. Nakata, we could do the same." I said
"Hm... Well, I would say:

Preston's response:
A. Kanamori, he'll be the easiest to fit in
B. Nakata, since we have a pretty extensive scouting report on him
C. Oda all the way! He's the best option.
D. Komatsu would be the best, we need a serious contact hitter on the team.
E. (other)"
"Sounds good Preston, thanks for telling me about them."
"No problem, but hey, don't forget that if we continue doing this well, we'll probably be at the bottom end of the draft in terms of picking order. So we'll be lucky to get any of these guys."
"Your'e right, we'll probably end up only getting one or two of them."
"Yeah... Well, sorry for waking you up, but I knew you were going to go to tonight's game, so I didn't want to disturb you any later."
"No problem, Preston. Thanks for the info. See ya."
"Bye."

And with that, I left, to go back to sleep, and think about who to pick.

(PPJ, mac, dish... Who should we get?)

1. C, Inaba's younger and looks like he has more upside.
2. B

Alrighty, so that's:

1 for Inaba
1 for Nakata, and
1 for Oda (my vote)

Muranaka because he'll be lifting the team's spirit, and Komatsu because he's a good, solid, speedy outfielder.

Muranaka, only because of that sweet knuckle curve.
