We're actually in the Pacific League, it was a different Fujita who hit the homerun.

Knights Win By Kurihara’s Bat!

Image
Image – Masato Kurihara

Seibu Dome, Tokorozawa, Saitama – It was a pitcher’s duel up until the 4th, when Oda got the first hit of the game, for either team, which was a double to left. And then right after, Kanazawa got an RBI single to right! And the Lions got their first hit in the same inning, a single by Takasaki that Ushida just missed with a dive.

In the 5th, Terauchi hit a little grounder to second, and Kataoka threw it home, where Shigeno and Uemoto collided at the plate. Shigeno knocked the ball out of Uemoto’s glove, and scored the second run of the game, which tied it up!

And in the 6th, Kurihara hit a homerun to give the Knights the lead. Overall, an uneventful game.

They accepted! The Giants accepted! We've got Shen!
I ran down to Kensou to tell him the news.
"Kensou, they accepted! And they threw in Takahiro Suzuki as well." I said
"That's awesome!"

Takhiro Suzuki - OF, #30
AGE, YEARS PRO, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
34, 16, N/A, S/R, 2, E, F, A, D, D, C

He'll work out as a backup, I would say.
I inserted into the fourth spot in the rotation, so he'll be starting tomorrow!

Shen Shows His Stuff

Image
Image – Shen and Fukuchi

Miyagi Baseball Stadium, Sendai – Shen really showed that he is a force to be reckoned with. He threw a complete game, let up only 1 run, and struck out a whopping 7 in his NPB debut! “I was angry when I let up that homerun to Shima, but still, I struck out 7.” Shima seemed to be the only one Shen had trouble with, for some odd reason. Shen’s fastball is explosive, and his changeup really keeps them off balance, and he can occasionally throw in a slow curve, to screw them up even more.

It’s clear, though, that he gets upset with himself on the mound if he lets up a homerun.

He got his first strikeout in the 3rd, against Iwamura. But, unfortunately, Terauchi let it go by, and Iwamura got to first. Although, he gets his first legitimate strikeout against Matsui, in the same inning!

My phone rang, I went to pick it up, but I didn't recognize the number. I picked up anyway.
"Hello?" I said
"Hey Jack" the voice said back.
I instantly recognized the voice.
"Tani?!"
"The one and only! ...Well, not really, but yeah, it's me!"
"Man, it's been forever! How've You been? How's the MLB treating you?"
"It's been great! In fact, in my very first game against a team called the Yankees, I hit a double deck homerun in the ninth inning for my first career hit! I was pretty darn excited to say the least. Oh, and also, I'm leading the American League in homeruns, with 34!"
"Wow. That's pretty impressive Tani! Hey, so, what are you calling for?"
"Oh, right! I almost forgot. Did you hear about what they'll be doing at the end of the season?"
"No, what?"
"You haven't heard? Huh?"
"What is it?"
"Well, they set up a game with some of the best Chinese stars to play against Japan's best!"
"Really?! Who's on the team?"
"The Kuriharas, Kanazawa, Makida, me, Aoki, Darvish, and a bunch more. I'm really surprised you haven't heard of it!"
"Masato, Takuya, and Makida made it and I wasn't notified? Odd."
"Sure is. Well, Jack, I've gotta get going. I'll catch you later."
"Alrighty, see ya soon Tani."
"Oh! Before I go, I sent you an e-mail with some pictures from my first game."
"Alright, I'll check them out!"
"Alright, see ya Jack."
"Bye."
He hung up, and I went to go look at the email he sent.

It went like:
"Hey Jack, check these out! One's from my first game against the Yankees, and another's from when we played the Royals.

The pictures from America look significantly more realistic than here.

Yamato, What’s Happened?

Image
Image – Ng and Iwasaki

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – The score may not represent it, but the Knights got destroyed yesterday. The Knights didn’t even score until the 7th inning. And Yamato was out before the end of the 6th, who gave up 6 runs. Yamato, what has happened?

He gave his honorary number 18 to Fujita right after the game, “I no longer deserve to wear this number. Fujita, on the other hand, fully deserves this honor, so I bequeath to him this number of 18, and also the position of ace of the staff. I shall be moving down to the bottom of the rotation.” Yamato said at the end of the game.

Fujita also released a statement after the ceremony, “I am honored to receive this. I honestly don’t have much else to say, other than that I am extremely elated.”

Injuries Run Wild

Image – Fujita and Fukuchi

Blue Staidum, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – The Knights won last night, at the cost of losing Shimozono for yet another month, with the exact same injury he had before. His aggravated left wrist, once again, is hurting him. He made an excellent jumping catch at the wall, but ended up spraining his wrist in the process. “This is a poor hit for the team, losing Shimozono again.” Manager Mori said after the game. Shimozono also commented, “I suppose I should stop jumping into walls, huh?”

But, on the positive side, Fujita took the mound for the first time since he’s gotten the honorary number 18. He threw a complete game, let up only 1 run, struck out 4, and started a nice double play. Pretty solid game, if I do say so myself.

Kurihara Wins It!

Image
Image – Hiyama and Kurihara

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – Kurihara won the game last night essentially by himself. With great pitching by Hiyama, Kurihara showed just how good he is, by hitting a 155 meter (509 foot) 3-run-walkoff-homerun! 155 meters! Insane! Tomura threw one right down the middle, and Kurihara turned on it, hitting it out of the stadium, over the concessions in left. “Tomura threw one right down the middle,” Kurihara said “and I got a hold of it.”
