Knights Win 60!

Image
Image – Kurihara and Hiyama

Fukuoka Dome, Chūō-ku, Fukuoka – Well, the Knights 60th win on the season was uneventful. Save for Tamura’s 200th career homerun! Congratulations to him!

Also, Kurihara had another good game, going 2-3 with a sac fly, a double, and 3 RBI! “I’m seeing the ball well this month. I hopefully will be able to continue throughout the rest of the season!” He said after the game.

Congratulations Knights!

I was sitting in my office, writing down some stats, and I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in." I said
Preston came in.
"Hey, Jack, I just got news the Giants are looking to trade Jian Shen." Preston said
"Jian Shen? You mean the pitching prospect?"
"Yep, that's him."
"You mean the one who can throw 156 kmh (97 mph)?"
"Yep."
"My god, lets get him. Now."
"Well... They're gonna probably want a lot."
"How about some cash, Egawa, and Atori?"
"That could work."
"Alright, I'll send them a proposal."
"Very well Jack. Hopefully this works."

Preston left, and I went to set up the trade for this kid.

Kiyoshi Atori
Touya Egawa
Some Points

FOR

Jian Shen
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
19, R/R, 156 km/h (97 mph), C, B, Changeup - 3, Drop Curve - 1
Bio: He was excellent in the Koshien, almost throwing a no-hitter, in fact! His fastball velocity is amazing, and he can really off-balance batters with the changeup. He's got average control, and can go the whole game no problem.
Personality: He's very passionate, and will always stick to his guns.

Should I go for it?

Trades are really hard to pull off in this game, but this guy is good enough for you to try and make one.

Knights Win With Late Inning Drama

Image – Yoshiro Ushida

Sapporo Dome, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo – Last night was quite the amazing game. Kurihara became the first player to hit 50 homeruns on the year, and only in July! He leads the league by 14! Which is incredible! His brother also got a homerun in the game, his 22nd of the season.

But, also, Kurihara made a bonehead play at first; he dropped an easy throw by Oda! But, for some reason, it wasn’t counted as an error, so Fujita was charged with the run. What?! No matter though, because right after the run scored, Koyano worked the count to 3-2, and with no outs, the runners went, for no good reason. And Koyano hits a linedrive to Oda, who throws it to first to get the second out, and then Kurihara threw it to second to get the third out. A 4-3-6 TRIPLE PLAY! The Knights second triple play of the year, pretty remarkable!

Ushida also hit a homerun in the game, which came in the top of the ninth, and the scored tied. A slider hung over the plate and he pulled it over the right field wall. “I really got a hold of that one!” He said after the game. He was awarded as the MVP for the game, with obvious reason! Even though he only has 2 homeruns so far this season, both of which have come in very big clutch moments, in fact, both of them have been game-winners!

Today we're playing the Buffaloes, this is the last game before the all-star break, and could possibly be Atori's last game in a Knights uniform, along with Egawa, who's going to be starting. And Shimozono's back!

Knights Lose a Heartbreaker

Image
Image – Takahiro Okada

Osaka Dome, Osaka – The Knights lost quite the amazing game, losing 4-3. They were no-hit for 3 1/3, clawed their way back from a 2 run deficit, and ended up losing thanks to an 8th inning homerun by Okada. And it was just barely one; it hit off the top of the wall, and went over the fence. “Thankfully it went over the wall.” He said

Atori threw quite a game, going 8, letting up only 4 runs, and Kaneko did the about the same, letting up 3. Both of them did excellent.

Well, since it's the first All-Star game today, let's see how everybody's doing.

Fielders:
Tsuyoshi Matsunaga - CF, #41
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, N/A, L/L, 3, C, C, A, D, D, D
AVG: .311
HR: 4
RBI: 36
He started the season out poorly again, but really stepped up his game after his month off. Bringing his average up from a less than stellar .255 up to .311!

Koyato Oda - 2B, #3
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, SS, L/R, 3, A, C, B, C, D, D
AVG: .334
HR: 9
RBI: 50
In his rookie season, he's proving to be a hit machine. He's moved up from batting sixth to replace the struggling Egawa.

Takuya Kanazawa - 1B/DH, #49
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
20, N/A, R/R, 4, C, A, D, E, E,, E
AVG: .320
HR: 32
RBI: 86
He was struggling until the Interleague games, but afterwards, he really stepped up his game, showing that he's not to be messed with.

Masato Kurihara - 1B, #34
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, C, R/R, 4, C, S, A, C, D, C
AVG: .364
HR: 52
RBI: 122
Wow. Just wow. Kurihara has 52 homeruns before the All-Star game. It's incredible. He is by far the best player in the league. He's only 10 away from tying his record from last season!

Taiga Kura - SS, #1
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, N/A, L/R, 3, B, C, C, B, C, D
AVG: .342
HR: 14
RBI: 59
Until Kurihara's explosion, Kura was the batting average leader in the Pacific League. He's proved himself to be a great shortstop too, since he struggled a bit with the fielding last year.

Daisuke Fukuchi - 3B, #5
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, N/A, S/R, 3, C, D, C, B, B, B
AVG: .291
HR: 15
RBI: 49
Last year, he didn't do so well, batting only .236, with only 15 homeruns. He's finally becoming the player he was expected to be!

Yoshiro Ushida - LF, #15
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
20, OF/2B, S/R, 3, A, D, A, C, C, C
AVG: .333
HR: 2
RBI: 7
He just joined the team, so his stats aren't what they should be yet. But his 2 homeruns have come as game-winners. He's a very good clutch hitter.

Akitaka Shimozono - RF, #53
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
20, C/1B, L/R, 2, D, D, B, A, B, E
AVG: .337
HR: 2
RBI: 33
Why is he doing so well? And why did he do so well last season? This kid is changing everyone's mind about "not being a good hitter" and "will only bat in the low .200's." Shimozono just moved to the outfield, after being the starting catcher last season, and for the first half of this season. But now, the starting catcher is...

Rikiya Terauchi - C, #52
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, N/A, S/R, 2, D, D, D, A, A, A
AVG: .250
HR: 4
RBI: 18
He's just been instated as the starting catcher, and has been doing well. Well, he's been doing as expected. Nobody runs on him, though.

Jun Kaga - C, #72
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
24, N/A, R/R, 2, D, F, E, C, E
AVG: .375
HR: 0
RBI: 2
He's the backup's backup, his average is good. That's all.

Hideo Nomoto - 2B, #4
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
30, N/A, R/R, 2, D, E, D, B, B, B
AVG: .200
HR: 0
RBI: 0
He's essentially become the bench coach. He's the captain of the team, and a fantastic leader.

Takumi Nakahigashi - SS, #20
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
30, 2B/3B, L/R, 1, E, E, E, B, A, B
AVG: .364
HR: 0
RBI: 0
Meh

Shun Tohno - 2B, #76
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
20, 1B, L/R, 3, C, B, E, E, D, E
AVG: .667
HR: 1
RBI: 2
His only homerun was an incredible one, he's a good pinch hitter.

Touya Egawa - RF, #8
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, OF, R/R, 3, B, C, A, C, D, E
AVG: .217
HR: 3
RBI: 26
What's happened to him? He batted .308 last season, with 15 homeruns, and 63 RBI. He's had a complete collapse, and I think a change of scenery would be good for him.

Ryouya Miyaki - RF, #44
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
28, OF, R/R, 2, D, E, E, B, D, C
AVG: .266
HR: 1
RBI: 7
He's a rookie, and did well taking over for Shimozono when he was out for a month. He hit his first homerun!

Goro Shigeno - LF, #56
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
35, OF, R/R, 3, C, B, C, B, C, C
AVG: .264
HR: 6
RBI: 39
He's taken the Egawa route, moving over to the bench because he's struggling.

Pitchers:
Tsukiya Yamato #18
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
21, R/R, 151 km/h (94 mph), C, B, Hard slider - 5, SFF - 5
ERA: 4.07
W-L: 10-5
IP: 139 1/3
K: 119
I don't know what's up with him... He's letting up a bunch of runs, but he leads the team in strikeouts.

Kazuya Fujita #14
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
19, L/L, 149 km/h (93 mph), D, A, Slider - 4, Changeup - 1
ERA: 2.73
W-L: 13-1
IP: 131 2/3
K: 88
He's the best starter on the team, and only a rookie! Leading the league in wins, and is second in the ERA, only behind Darvish.

Hiroshi Shima #16
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
19, L/L, 153 km/h (95 mph), E, C, Slider – 1, Circle Change – 1, Sinker - 2
ERA: 3.86
W-L: 7-3
IP: 112
K: 52
He's doing alright, that's about it.

Ataru Hiyama #11
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
20, R/R, 150 km/h (93 mph), C, A, 2-seam, Slider – 1, Sinker – 1, V-slider - 2
ERA: 3.31
W-L: 11-4
IP: 127 2/3
K: 89
His ERA was very high, but he's really brought it down.

Kiyoshi Atori #24
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
19, R/R, 150 km/h (93 mph), D, B, Changeup - 1, Curve - 7
ERA: 5.51
W-L: 7-5
IP: 117 2/3
K: 72
He's doing awful. He's slated for trade with Egawa and some points to the Giants. He needs a change of scenery as well.

Jun Ohtonari #48
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
20, R/R, 147 km/h (91 mph), C, C, Slider - 2, Curve - 7
ERA: 5.30
W-L: 1-2
IP: 35 2/3
K: 29
S: 1
He's doing very poorly.

Ryan Techer #13
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
31, R/R, 144 km/h (89 mph), C, C, 2-seam, Slow Curve - 3, Knuckleball - 1
ERA: 2.41
W-L: 3-0
IP: 37 1/3
K: 20
Moving him to the bullpen was a very good decision, his ERA has dropped from 4.64 (which it was last year) to 2.41 now.

Yoshio Fujii #91
AGE, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
20, R/R, 140 km/h (87 mph), E, D, Hard Sinker – 2, Slow Curveball – 2, Shuuto - 3
ERA: 2.31
W-L: 4-1
IP: 23 1/3
K: 12
S: 2
He's doing shockingly well, again!

Moving him to the bullpen was a very good decision, his ERA has dropped from 4.64 (which it was last year) to 2.41 now.

Lookin' good!

Pretty much impossible, save for getting rid of good ol' Kurihara, and that's not gonna happen.
