Tigers Pitching Dominance Comes to an End

Koshien Stadium, Koshien, Nishinomiya, Hyōgo – Iwata didn’t perform as well as he usually does. He only went 6 1/3 innings, giving up 6 runs. Bringing his ERA back over 2. We spoke to him after the game, he stated: “Yeah, I didn’t do well today. I’ll just have to try harder next time.”

On the other hand, Giants pitcher (Tetsuya Utsumi) did excellent, throwing a complete game, letting up only 3 runs, and in the 6th, got Kanemoto to ground out into an inning ending double play, with bases loaded. All 3 of the runs came thanks to Tani. He hit a solo homerun, and a 2-run homerun.

Tigers win a thriller

MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium, Minami-ku, Hiroshima – Phew. What a game. What a good game. Eight runs were scored in the final 2 innings. The Carp’s starter, Kan Ohtake had a no-hitter going through 2 1/3, but it was broken up by Matt Murton, with a double. But that was just the beginning, everyone (excluding the pitcher) in the Tigers starting lineup got a hit, with Murton being the first, and Kawamoto being the last.

But the real kickstarter for the Tigers was the rookie, Fumihiko Saito. He hit his first career homerun, to tie the game at 1 each! Saito, not known for his power, spoke about it in his press conference. He stated “Good God, it’s awesome. Probably the best feeling I’ve ever felt. Ever. And I’ve got to thank the Tigers again, for giving me a chance.” Two batters later, Kiyoshi Abe (who has been in a long slump) hit a homerun to give the Tigers the lead, 2-1. They never gave that lead away, though it came close.

Atsushi Nohmi, who started in yesterday’s game, was removed in the 7th, ue to some elbow pain, the team released “Nothing major, he should be ready for his next start.” He got the win, regardless. And good news that it’s only some minor elbow pain.

Tigers Lose a Heartbreaker

Image – Takehiro Oshimoto
Image – Hiroyasu Tanaka

Koshien Stadium, Koshien, Nishinomiya, Hyōgo – Aw! So close! The Tigers had the bases loaded with 2-outs in the bottom of the 9th, with Toritani up (who had already hit a homerun in the game), down by two, it was looking good. BUT, no. Toritani lined out to second, end of game. Awwwwww… What? No matter, it was a good game nonetheless.

And also in yesterday’s game, Kanemoto, who isn’t known for his defense, made 3 excellent plays. In the top of the 1st, Kanemoto and Tani were faced with a shallow fly ball right on the foul line, Kanemoto called Tani off. Kanemoto dove (backwards!) and made an excellent catch to end the inning. In the top of the 5th, Kanemoto made a nice jumping catch, and doubled it up, ending that inning. And finally in the 7th, the pitcher (Nakazawa) was up and showed bunt on the first pitch. Kanemoto then instructed the infield to go into bunting distance, Nakazawa picked up on this, and faked a bunt. He swung, and Kanemoto dove… He caught it! He caught it! He dove the second it came off the bat and caught it! Pretty good, for someone who is 42 years old. We spoke to him after the game about this play in particular. He stated “Well, I may have hurt my back a little. But no, it actually felt pretty great to make some diving catches again.”

Also in yesterday’s game, Tani made a jumping effort to catch Aaron Guiel’s second homerun, but to no avail. He smashed into the wall, and was taken out of the game for precautions, the organization was originally concerned of the possibility of a concussion, but Jack Allen, the GM stated “Nothing major, he only got the wind knocked out of him. We were thinking that it could have been a concussion, but that was proved otherwise, Tani should be back in a day or two.” We hope so Jack, we hope so.

This is back! After almost a month, I have decided I'm going to start this up again, though it may not be updated frequently (due to my baseball tryouts going on this week, and then the season following it). But regardless, here is a story update! :D

July 25, 2012

Oh boy, today has been a boring day. Nothing to do, no baseball, no dog (due to him getting his haircut), no nothing.
*Ring-ring-ring-ring*
"My phone!"
I picked up my phone to hear the Owner speaking with Preston, just finishing his sentence.
"H-hello?" I said
"Hello? Jack?" The Owner questioned back at me
"Yes, what do you need sir?"
"Preston's just found some new players, get down here, now."
"Okay, sir, I'll be right there!"
"Good."
He hung up.
And as he did, I exploded with joy. Something to do! Hooray!

I rushed down to the office, and met Preston and Mark at the door, they seemed excited to show me these new players, and if they were excited, I was excited.
We all headed into Preston's office (which was very clean).
"Al-All right, si- Jack, we, uh, found some new players." Mark said.
"Yeah, we found 3 new kids tearing up the high school circuit." Preston added.
"Really now? Who are they?" I asked
"Well, this is the interesting part, nobody really knows who they are, they just showed up, and boy, did they show up." Preston said
"Yeah, um, we don't really even, uh, know their names." Mark (hesitantly) added
"Hm? What? You don't know their names?"
"No one does, sir. They're, well, I dunno. They're just great. Listen here: We, along with everyone else (and even themselves), call them X, Y, and Z." Preston stated
"X, Y, and Z?"
"Yes sir, we, uh, called them X, Y, and, uh, Z." Mark said
"Alright, so, tell me about them, where do they play, what are their strengths?" I asked
"Well, weirdly, they all play at different schools, Z plays at Pawafour University." Preston said
"Pawafour, eh? We've gotten some really good talent out of there, where does he play?" I asked
"Short, sir." Preston said
"Hm... We've got a pretty solid shortstop staff, who's next?"
"Well, uh, next is, uh, X. He plays at, um... Kaitou University." Mark said
"Kaitou?! That's the best baseball school in the area!" I said
"It is! Oh, and also, I forgot to say, Z is a very balanced, and versatile player. Whereas X is all offensive, he plays a mean second, but has a sub-par arm. His bat, is where he shines." Preston said
"Awesome, awesome. What about Y?"
"Now, Y, SHE is very, very fast. VERY fast." Preston said, with a strong emphasis on the "SHE" and the "VERY"
"Wait, wait, wait, wait. She?" I asked
"Yep, she is, umm, awesome!" Mark added
"Where does she play?" I asked
"She plays at Kashimashi Prep." Preston said
"Kashimashi? I thought they didn't have a baseball team."
"Well, uh, they do now." Mark stated
"Yeah! And Y actually was the one who started it. She (along with 2 friends) made a baseball team up from scratch." Preston added
"Awesome! Where does she play?"
"She occupies center, sir. And with her in center, Z at short, and X at second, we would have a triangle where nothing would land, since they're all superb fielders, and can cover a ton of ground." Preston said
"And, uh, also they would be, uh, good for the lineup too."
"I'm liking it. Preston, Mark get more info on these 3, and report back to me in 2 weeks. I want to know about X, Y, and Z!" I said, and with that I was out the door.

And on my way back home. To continue loafing around, on this boring day.

I haven't finished these 3 yet, but I should be done with them within 2 weeks, so, yeah. Hope you liked this! :D

21, 0, 2B, N/A, R/R, 4, E, A, F, F, B, A

Y
AGE, YEARS PRO, POSITION, 2ND POSITION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
21, 0, OF, N/A, L/R, 2, D, D, A, C, A, A

Z

21, 0, SS, N/A, S/R, 3, C, C, B, C, B, A

I hope that I can get them to be this good, though, no promises.

I don't care about the other two, but you need Y. Y provides versatility (outfielders can play all 3 outfield positions in this game) and she'll bring a huge (yet fictional) fanbase to the Tigers. Not to mention she's an amazing defender.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same, and plus, I have an outfield position ready (I can take out Murton for her) so I think I'll only go for Y.

I agree. Y is by far the most versatile and interesting. X is a relatively poor defender and single-skilled, and Z is decent but you already have a good shortstop ;)

I hope you'll give them actual names when you make them though.

Kind of ironic that Y is the girl since Y is the male chromosome and all. (Sorry. We're studying genetics.)

And hm... I never thought about that. Good catch, my friend.

Oh, and by the way, I'll be continuing this soon. Sorry for the long hiatus.

The (first) all-star game is upon us! From the Tigers we have: Toritani and Tani starting, and Abe, Kanemoto, and Kawamoto on the bench. For pitching we have Iwata (who is getting the starting bid!) Fujikawa, and Nohmi, who are both in the bullpen. This should be a great game!

Central League is Victorious!

Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome, Fukuoka City – The Central League comes out on top in a 7-3 victory! They took an early lead thanks to long-time headache Michihiro Ogasawara, who hit a solo homerun in the 2nd inning; right after Tony Blacno tied it up with a solo blast of his own. As a whole, the Central League did very well, behind Giants manager Tatsunori Hara.

Seven of the eight Tigers players elected in played, the only one not appearing (shockingly) was Kyuji Fujikawa, he stated why, saying “My right arm hurt me a bit when we were throwing in the bullpen, I didn’t want to risk an injury, so I asked not to pitch. Great game though, wasn’t it?”

Speaking of injuries, Tani came out of the game in the 3rd inning after diving into a wall to try and make the catch; he came out, but says that he is alright, thankfully.

The Yahoo Dome might be my new favorite stadium name. Great American Ballpark is still tough to beat.

How about "MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima"? That's a pretty awesome name.
