Post subject:  Owner Visits
Has anyone seen it when their owner shows up to the park to see one game and that presents are promised if people perform well? I'm not talking about the one where the manager tells you to do well in a 3-game series. This one seems like a one-shot deal. Win or lose a particular game.

I did well in the game but my team lost -- and i got a message saying the owner stormed out of the stadium with a red face. I didnt get any presents for it and wondered if anyone won that game before and what did you get. The event has not happened to me again and I have been very curious if it is super rare..

FYI: I did both the one game and three game (won all three) and both are $1000.

I haven't gotten the one game yet but I've gotten the three game twice. The only problem with the first time he told me instead of it being a 3 game series it was a four game series! :lol:

ah, thanks for clearing that up.

when i lost, i also got a message saying that he will remember this loss when it comes to resigning players too so im thinking it might affect the amount of your offer u get too.

and fyi, ive gotten the 3-game series one a handful of times and more times than not, its actually a 4-game series :?

I have gotten $1000 for the first game.

Lost three to the Yanks. Which made the manager talk like he was going to get fired. Pretty funny. Cause he seemed scared to death about being fired.

do those guys actually get fired anytime? would be cool if they do... V. Guererro is sitting o the bench right now for my team behind Abreu and LF has a weak rookie starting!

I wish they would. Trading Giambi to Nats and moving A-Rod to 1B just to play Ensberg at 3B is pure idiocy.

I blame my GM for the stupid moves we've made. We have Miguel Tejada, Raphael Furcal, and now Jose Reyes at short. Tejada and Furcal are rotting on the bench. Any of these guys could be starting anywhere else in the league. We could trade them away for a left fielder since they traded away Carlos Lee for a middle reliever. But nope.

The GM is definitely maddening. After my first year I was amazed to see in spring training of year 2 that the Rangers' pitching staff now had Jake Peavy, Brandon Webb, and another frontline starter whose name is escaping me at the moment, and had added K-Rod as the closer! Then the very next year K-Rod was gone (replaced at closer by Jeremy Affeldt :-( ), and so was the guy whose name I can't remember. There were 3 draft picks in the starting rotation that year, including the guy the team had just drafted the previous June.

I think I did figure out a bit of a clue with it though. If you notice, in spring training the manager tells the team what they're going to focus on this year. In the year we picked up all the stud pitchers, it was "pitching and defense." The couple of years after that the focus was on offense, which is probably why we traded away our pitching staff. You'd think the game would take a cue from the real life Rangers, the best offense in baseball won't get you anywhere when your pitchers can't shut other teams down on a semi-regular basis.
