Post subject: | Mets got my number |
Last year: With the best record in baseball, my Astros had home field advantage against the Wild Card Mets in the Division Series. We've had trouble with them all season. They had us down 2 games to 0 when we fought back to bring game 5 back to Houston. In the 10th inning of a 3 all game, My team brings in trade deadline acquisition Scott Shields, who gives up a 2 run bomb to Carlos Beltran, which took us out of the hunt. This year: Once again, my Stros are the best team in the MLB record wise. Despite a less dominant bullpen, we work our way through the Wild Card Marlins in 4 games in the Division Series. My third baseman caries the team with 12 RBIs in the final 3 games. Then come the Mets. We still have home Field but the take game 1. We come back in game two carried by my 3rd baseman's 2 HRs and 5 RBIs. Games 3 and 4 in NY are ours. "We've got this thing wrapped up" I thought. Game 5. Johan Santana, who has been causing fits for my offense is his usual self fanning 12. Roy Oswalt keeps us in the game only allowing 2 runs through 7 2/3. We only manage 1 run but we know we're going back to Houston. Game 6 in Houston. We lose with Brandon Backe starting. He's been roughed up most of the season by the Mets and this game is no different. 6-4 Mets. We let it go to game 7 with Wandy Rodriguez on the mound vs Anibal Sanchez who threw a perfecto against us earlier in the season. Wandy gets rocked for 7 runs in the first 3 innings and we can't recover. 7-5 and another ousting in the final game by the Mets. I'm starting to really hate them. |
