Ok, hobbies directly effect your stats. Here is what I know so far, please add to it!

Appearantly, You can beat video games, and then you can't play them again! - Nevermind, you can re-buy a new game a the store that will do the same thing.

Golfing
- Steel Clubs - Seems to effect Contat and Power Randomly (Costs me $800 every time I golf) Control a little bit.

Play Video Games
- Action Game - (Seems to switch between Contact and Power) (Needed for other video games)
- RPG - Rally Hitter Ability /Safe Pitch
- Adventure - Tough Out Ability

Read a book
- Baseball Comic - Power (needed to begin - need lvl 2 for books below)
- Beginer's Fielding - increases Field and Error Resistance
- Baseball Biography - Top Speed, Control, Stamina

Fishing (must catch something) - Arm strength, Run Speed, Throwing 4
Fishing - Gd Delivery
Darts - increase control(pitcher) and contact (fielder)

When you perform a hobby and it doesn't do anything... do you get closer to it being successful later on? Or is it completely random if you succeed or not? ... For example is my 10th time fishing, after 9 attempts with no results, more likely than my 1st to provide a boost?

I noticed this especially with Fishing, I tend to get to E level or so before I ever catch anything. I'd be willing to bet that better skill and better equipment make it more likely to succeed and get stat boosts.

Exactly right. There is a certain thing your player says that triggers the stat boost.

Golf-With a smooth swing I enjoyed the practice.
Darts-darts were being sucked into the middle of the board. I can't miss!
Reading-I read a little further or I breezed through the book. (Breezed through the book gives more of a boost.)

For books, when they finish reading he finishes reading it, he says "I've learned all i can from it," or something like that.
