I'm pretty sure it's just like success mode, but when your player is in the majors, it spans his whole MLB career if I'm not mistaken.

Wyl is laying a brick wall with all those rim shots...

Anyways... if you read the reviews of the game...

it's a 20 year career in the majors, with a practice layout that's similar to the practice screen in season mode... just you choose what you wish to improve that day...

There are some other interesting little things like the ability to conduct interviews with reporters, choose whether to practice or go play golf, etc.

You also only control that player in games, rather like in Success mode.

What do you mean? It would be awesome riding on the coat tails of the team's top player. Basically being his personal assistant. Who doesn't want to do that?

if its anything like the other career modes ive played in other baseball games, ill have him maxed in 4-5 years. Ill have to make hitters though, i suck at pitchers in every game.

Taking your success player and then using him for 20yrs. Suppose to play like the College World Series, only your at bats and key situtations. Or you can also use your fav MLB player, trying taking an underused rookie (Adam Lind on my Jays) and turn him into a star. Keep track of your fans, make donations to charties, pickup hobbies, have a life outside of baseball, get a girl...all this is suppose to effect your players stats. Life mode is a bigger version of success or a continuation of it.

The biggest reason to buy this version then the last years.

This is the reason I like this game. They didn't bother pumping up the graphics, a bit chartoonish, because its wizmical and it works. Instead of trying to make the players more realistic they used the cpu space that would have been wasted on that and put it into better/deeper game play. It's not the graphics thats the main attraction for this game...its the gameplay, the stats, the features, all of such that would have been lost if they focused on realizism. They focused on playing baseball as fun. Not complicated. Fun to pickup, adjust to your own level, if you get bored then there are several other ways to play. All baseball games get boring eventrually, this one gives a varitey with Life and Success that breaks that boredum up.

I expect this to be a bit harder than typical "success modes" we've played out. You may get to your "prime" in quick order, but maintaining it may be more difficult in your old age.

If Konami is smart, it'll have an auto-save feature to eliminate the "reload to reroll" issue, forcing you to deal with bad decisions/events (out 1 year for T-J surgery, instant minus to armspeed, control, stamina, and top speed. Or traded to Kansas City.).

They should also allow varying CPU difficulty (which was how we nailed the 2007 version- it was on Normal mode for most of the game).

Practice doesn't appear to have gambles, so you'll be on a set schedule. you may lose abilities/stats while you attempt to concentrate on others.

We don't know when and how your player will deteriorate with age.

A 20 year service is pretty amazing. If you can play from college until you hit 35, that's a darn good run (~13 years).

I hope there is still gambling personally. I also hope there is not some sort of auto save. Because if you want to cheat, all you will have to do is reset the Wii (playstation2), before it starts saving. That will be a real pain in my @$$ if I have to hard reboot every time.

But I'll do it
