Did you get the present from the Astros series?

No, he didn't. They lost the final game of the series.

Journal Entry #8: July

As I watched the news today, I heard we were going into July and that the Trade Deadline is fast approaching. I’ve heard stories of players like me, prospects, being traded for studs. God, I hope I’m not one of them…

I tried calling the coach one day to change my role, but he quickly hung up on me. He mumbled something about putting up numbers, but I didn’t hear that.

I finally got a start against the Royals, my first start of July. I got knocked around in the first, giving up 2 runs in that inning, but I didn’t give up a run until Hiatt, their draft pick from this year, blasted one over Baldelli’s head to bring in a run, making it 3-0. Our team only has 1 hit up to this point. After the 4th, it was 5-0, and I was not doing good at all. Crawford saved my bacon in the 5th, jumping up to rob Jose Guillen of a HR, but he didn’t do crap on offense, as we lost, 7-0, upping my ERA to over 6. There has to be SOMETHING I can do to straighten myself out. But what would it be? Facing the Orioles?

In the All-Star Game, the AL won, 5-4, and I was practicing Top Speed up the wazuu. I decided to take a break from practicing to head to the local GameStop to get me my copy of Super Mario Galaxy. It’s a very fun game, and I picked it up quickly. I also got this game called MLB Power Pros 2008…I’ll play that after Galaxy.

In my next start, we won 10-8, but I gave up a lot of runs to the offense, but our offense came back and beat them, surprisingly.

At the end of the month, we were in fourth, 14 games out of the 1st place Yankees, at a 52-56 record. We did some things, bringing over Hiroki Kuroda, Chan Ho Park, and Jose Capellan to bolster our bullpen. I was, after the month, 1-1 with a 6.16 ERA and 13 Ks.
