Just kind of curious, I'm not sure how many years it's supposed to take to learn a pitch. I've tried to learn the knuckleball, which is the most expensive I've seen by far, but it hasn't been working. Maybe you can only learn it if your pitcher is old...

Has anybody ever tested it?

I would if I had any My Life slots leftover.

I'm pretty sure you can. But the knuckleball, like in real life, is really hard to learn and master. You can keep trying (maybe S/L) or you could just try a different easier pitch.
