i dont know, i was under the impression that the Boston Red Sox were good. but we're like 8th place and i can pitch a shutout, and we'll lose in the end. or i'll give them one run and lose....

my guy is my first completion of success mode and he has avg stats, control B, stamina C, lvl 3 h-shuuto, 3 h-slider, 3 splitter, 1 orig,... so hes a pretty alright SP,.... ehhhh lame,...

what teams are doing well for you? im thinking about trying to get on the angels or yankees?

I got frustrated in my career as a starter and gave up. My career ERA through 2 years was around 2.30 (I actually won the ERA title in my second year), but I was strugling to reach my 10-win goal while usually having twice as many losses. It seemed like the opponent's starting pitcher was always red or pink motivation, which apparently makes any scrub pitcher capable of a 4-hit shutout...

I didn't have the Lucky or Unlucky stats, nor do I know how to get them, but it makes me wonder how you're supposed to have any fun if the game decides game results are going to have absolutely no correlation to your performance. I don't mind getting rocked on low motivation because my pitches don't break, but routinely getting L's and ND's for good performances is really frustrating.

exactly, i cant win with low motivation, and when i perform good or amazing, i'll b LUCKY if i get the win,... i just dont get how i have a .89 era with a 7-10 record,... and then this other guy in the league has a 2.49 era and has a 10-3 record,... =/

I just made a success pitcher and got Lucky ability through one of the surprise bags from working with Jaw.

Red Sox for some reason, both in 07 and 08, always suck. Through all my success years and from the two versions, Boston has always ended up with the worst record in the AL east and it often came down to the last week of the season whether it was them or the Rays winning the last spot.

I have a non success pitcher going on now with the Jays and going into the last month we are below 500 but only 4.5 games out of 1st place, baltimore is in 1st. My guy has an era of 2.67 but I have a record of 7-8 with a ton of no-decsions, low stamina is killing me, but my team has been scoring 1-2 for me on a reg. basis. The problem has been unless my team scores early, 1-4 innings, I normally get the shaft because when my team scores it tends to be in the middle or late innings.

I like this, it seems more realistic where I'm not walking away with 30 wins and a team that scores a ton. This is the life of a major leager. How many pitchers out there would have larger win totals if their team ever learned how to swing a bat when they pitch? I don't mind this, if I did I would ditch Life mode and go play success where I could be sure that my pitchers got run support.

Sy213 I feel for ya, I just started another life with a success pitcher for the Rays?! I'm not expecting much at all the 1st year and hope they get better in year 2 or maybe get traded to a more offensive team. The one thing that has saved me alot with Tronto is that they have excellent defense. Rays will be a different breed....should be intresting and fun.

PowerPros just seems to hate Boston....I don't like them either but I'm a Jays fan, I hate both Boston and NY.

Anyways, to be honest with you, you can win even if you are at your lowest, I do it, but it's quite difficult, especially when you're playing with the Giants, omg, you pretty much need a player who can bat AND pitch well. That's why I want to roll a Genius pitcher, heh.

But really, it's all about location. At your lowest, hit corners, try and make them chase your junk, and try not to leave a meatball over the plate. If you can do all of that, you'll be all good.

I mean, maybe it's because my pitcher is pretty good, topping at 101, but he could still get rocked considering he pitches at a normal pitch speed afterwards. In fact, if you throw slower than 90 at your lowest, you'll be in a good spot considering the computer doesn't adjust so well with super low pitch speeds.

Anyways, back to my main point, which is to basically create an awesome Genius character, make it so he can bat well, around C contact and power should do with 2-3 trajectory, D or C running speed to swipe a bag or two, and try and give him a really good ar, so there are no cheap infield hits. But do that after you have fulfilled the pitching standards you want for them, like number of pitches, level of pitches, and all that other stuff.

i had to say that. I'm a giants fan too, just not mainly.
i hate when (even when it's the opposing pitcher) allows only 2 runs or less, and yet he gets the loss.

Yea, it sucks, but I really don't care since the Giants suck offensively. But yea, I'm glad if that happens because I usually walk away winning 1-0. LMAO!

OMG, I just got the Matt Cain joke just now! LMAO! Man, that's a good one. But yea, he deserves way more wins than he has. It should be him and Lincecum who should be chasing the Cy Young in my opinion, you know? But yea, in 2-3 years, we are expecting a World Series title! Go Gigantes!

Yea, it's Spanish for Giants, and yes, it is also one of those Success teams. The one with that dude who has horrible control but only has a fastball. LOL! I totally smashed him.

i hate hitting fastballs though. unless they're slow. or 2 seamers.

Probably used a hunting knife to shave. LOL! They are such beasts! But yea, the only thing that sucks is that he has no control, so it's hard to judge where it'll end up.

i know. i only had a good game against him once.

I hit 2 homers off of him when both of my brothers only had like, E or F power, freaking awesome!
