I just started a new career and check out what my 18-year old player's starting abilities are:

TRJ: 2
CON: 7 (E)
PWR: 125 (C)
RUN SPD: 8 (D)
ARM STR: 9 (D)
FLD: 8 (D)
E RES: 9 (D)

And if anyone wants to know what I chose for strength and weaknesses, here they are:

Type:
All rounder

Strengths:
Amazing bat control
Good contact

Weakness:
Ugly dude

wow, nice! Any other details, like what round you were drafted and did you go to college, ect..

Well, I B/T: L/L, I play CF, I was drafted in the first round out of high school.

I think everyone (including me haha) are too humble and are getting drafted in the third-fourth round which might affect our stats. First round picks might improve them.

The round you get picked in must affect something or else it wouldn't be there.

maybe it is potential?

Might have something to do with scouting at the beginning.

1st round, high school, 1/1/1989
strength: Bat Control, 50 yd. in 5 sec.
weak: tenses up in jam
slugger

CON: 3 (or 2, i forget)
Pow: B
RUN SPD: 5

then:

same exact thing, but 5th Rd.

CON: 1
POW: E
RUN SPD: 4

Ouch...

thats a very big difference, like ten years training worth

E is not exactly slugger power...

Wow, huge difference.... Someone should experiment different combos of strengths and weaknesses.

That's somewhat similar to what my guy started with (your stats are better), also a 1st round high school pick (18 years old in year 1):


My strengths were 'amazing bat control' and 'great in the clutch,' with a weakness of 'poor base stealing.' I chose Slugger instead of All-Around. What will be interesting to compare as you play is where your stats peak. My guy had his CON peak at 9 (D), RUN SPD peak at 13 (B), and FLD peak at 13 (B). I haven't peaked anything else yet, so I'm not sure where PWR and ARM STR will cut off.

I think first rounder's stats die off faster though =/

I made a first rounder who got just about all his stats as high as possible before decreasing.
