I am hiting .399 with 10 homers and 49 rbis in my fourth season. (Over a hundred hits already.) This is the best of my 2B career, as of now. I feel like I should be rewarded, so I was hoping I would run away with the All-Star vote(I only have had two all star appearances in three seasons, I'm on my fourth season, and they were both from making it in by being third in the voting. My all-star batting is .500 with 1 hr and a rbi), but I am having to battle it out with a .301 10 hr and 39 rbi hitting Chase Utley.(He is actually beating me in the voting as of now) But why? I don't understand why the viewers would consider putting him in the same league in terms of hitting as me.

Welcome to the big leagues kid, and the real world. The All Star Ballot, much like the class president election in school, is a popularity contest. It doesn't matter how well you do or how good you are. The more fans you have, the more likely you are to be elected.

About how many fans would you consider "enough" to be popular enough to get to the top of the All-Star voting? I'm catching up, only like 2000 or so back but it's hard for me to keep preforming at .400 level. (I didn't import from sucess mode, I started this character in MLB Life and have been working on him through this)

I'm sure your stats are important too but it also depends on who your competitors are.

The AS voting in MLBPP08 is around 70% stats, 29% popularity (# of fans), and 1% pure and unadulterated randomness.

P.S. My 2nd year Yankees CF is currenly leading the votes with 4 million or so. 2nd place has like 800k. I guess it helps when you have over 120 HRs before AS break.

And apparently steals aren't incorporated into the voting whatsoever!

It's usually a safe bet to have over 150K for a good shot at winning. over 250K is really where you want to be along with good stats. Do your best to keep winning those player of the week/month awards to boost your total up. Also getting interviews with Mia will boost your totals by about 1K each time.

I've miraculously hit 4 HRs through the first month so maybe that will get some fans to vote for me!

I have over 150k :( . Utley just pulled very far ahead of me, although I have just been improving and improving. Hopefully I can still catch up.

Popularity contest is what it is, just like real life.

So far I've made the all-star game every year by virtue of coaches selection.
