How do you advance an ability when it's maxed-out? Does a friend have to do this or something? Thanks for any assistance.

Friends does help you when it is.. unless it's A already that's the limit point
Although I'm not quite sure.. but certain friends unlock some.. I'm not sure yet who will unlock the contact part or the running speed..
