Michael Saunders is an interesting player for me to go ahead and make. I haven't seen much of him, so I only have his stats to go off of. So, here's what I'm thinking for him:

Age: 21 in 2007, born 11/19
Position: I'm not sure what to give him as a primary. From what I see, it should go CF/LF/RF, but all I've personally known to see him play is primarily RF, so I want to give hm RF/LF/CF. I don't see him as a CF, but any advice with this will surely help.
B/T: L/R

TRJ: 2/3
CON: E 6-D 8 (Career BA in the .230s, yuck)
PWR: Low-Mid C (hasn't hit 20, did have 19 HRs one year)
RUN: D-C (Has a couple duble-digit SB seasons, but I'm not sure what to do)
ARM: D-C (Has some assists, but not enough for me to get a gauge on a specific letter)
FLD: B
E-RES: C-B (Doesn't have too many errors in the OF, so that's why they're so high)

As for abilities, it's pretty much a given that I have to get Durability 2. Doesn't have a full season at all, only 3 100+ game seasons out of 6.

How does this look? I really need a lot of expert advice with this one, since I have no clue what to give him.

RF is his best position, by a long shot, then LF, then CF, though he's played the most games in CF. I would go with RF/CF/LF

TRJ - 2/3, either way I suppose, this is a tough call
CON - I would go with E(6) or at best, E(7), he strikes out a lot in addition to the low batting average
PWR - mid C, his ISO is a career .153, .177 last year
RUN SPD - C(10), used to steal a lot in the minors, but only 9 SBA last year, and only 4 successful SB
ARM STR - D(8), arm is rated below average at all three positions
FLD - D(9)/C(10), rates as having good range according to UZR, but is 0-for-18 on "remote" plays on Inside Edge
E RES - C(10), only 10 career errors, and a slightly positive ErrR rating at all three positions

Durability 2 is a must, yes
Pull Hitter definitely - 36 of his 51 HR, not very good going the other way
Timely Whiff?

Power 120 with blues it could vary between 14-19
speed 10
arm 9-10
field 12

Blue abilities
Firstball hitter
Rally hitter
Good bunt

Reds
durability 2 is one
Vs lefty 2
Consistency 2?? as stats are all over the shop, but this could be injury related.

Some good advice so far...gonna need to load up on some reds, which I've never done!

I will need some tips on how to get those, since I've never actively gotten those kind of abilities.

Here's this from WBC PP 2013, but as you said, the ratings are not that accurate. I would not give him a B in power, maybe Mid-C, and 2 TRJ. Also, D run speed. Fielding stats from this are accurate though. I have no idea on specials as I do not watch the Mariners that much

You're right, and looking at it closer, they got his B/T wrong! lol

I might get started on him, but I'm not sure how I'm gonna get all those red abilities.

I don't think you can get VS Lefty 2, but Consistency 2 you can if you agree to catch the thief (not sure if it's the doctor's thief or the random Marvin event with the TV thief). Durability 2 is through an unsuccesful Goodjob, but it can really hamper your chances of making you player more accurate stat wise, like my Rienzo for example. Had I not gotten Goodjob, his top speed would have been 95 rather than 93

-You can get Durability 2 via unsuccessful Goodjob or by getting injured twice
-You cannot acquire VS Lefty 2
-Consistency 2 can be acquired three ways:

The Wiki wrote:
(Date) Patty / Lake / Rowboat
(Practice) Go through the motions during practice (requires Laziness)
(Random) Agree to Catch the Doctor's thief

1. OK, there IS an easier way to get Durability 2. Good to know. I'll just try to get injured twice. Do they have to be in a row, or just at any time?
2. Darn. So, I'll probably scratch that off the list.
3. I think the date one is more feasible to get out of the three.

Yeah sorry man, he's another fringy OF guy - valuable to a club as a mediocre OFer with speed, but not really good in any sense either. My Venable should be a decent comparison, although even he has some solid plusses that put him a bit higher.

I agree on the RF/LF/ being first. CF should be...a backup. You could go without CF at all and it would be OK - he's that bad there. He's spent the most time there, but he's a defensive negative (and a big one) while in the corners he is a plus.

TRJ 2? sure
CON 5-6 - his .231 avg just barely moves him into 6 territory, so if you end up with a blue or two accidentally, then leave it at 5 I'd say.
PWR 120-125
SPD minimum of 10, I'd be good with 11 tho (21 SBs against 4 CS in '12...closest to a full season I've got)
ARM 8-9. Below average to average - he's good enough but not wowing.
FLD if his primary is a corner OF spot, I'd do a solid C here, 11-12. If you make him as a CF first, you gotta stop at like 7-8. Big split.
E RES 10-12, yeah he's above average to good.

His high OBP compared to the low AVG made me think Patient Hitter, but his walk rate is just a tad above average at 9.2%...so not really.
Durability 2 is fine with me.
Timely Whiff - the threshold that was *kinda* agreed on was a 27% K rate, and Saunders is at 25.5%. So technically a no for me.
pull hitter works
consistency 2 would be super fine with me

all looks good, thats my $0.02

Alright, so I have where I want to aim for with Saunders:

TRJ: 2
CON: E 6
PWR: C 120
RUN: C 10
ARM: D 8-9
FLD: C 11
E-RES: C

Abilities:
Pull Hitter
Durability 2
Consistency 2
Firstball Hitter

I'll get started in just a bit.

Durability 2 - the injuries can occur at any time

Does it matter how low the vitality is? Like, do I need empty vitality both times?

Nope, you just have to get injured.

Holy shit, this was a pain in the ass to make. It's worth it, though. This was my second (maybe third) try, and the first time I got injured too late in the process, not having enough scout eval to go to AAA. I got lucky with my second attempt, getting Poor Sense as a starting ability (I had poor sense with the first attempt, as well). Got injured early enough that I didn't have to worry about losing too much coach and scout eval, and got Durability 2 at the same time. Needless to say, it was the most effort I've put into making a player. The only blemish is Tough Runner, but that shouldn't matter *too* much. Hope you enjoy!
