Mark Trumbo *might* be surprisingly easy to make, since he is most like my early, early 08 creations: all power, and nothing else! Which, not surprisingly, fits Trumbo to a T. Here's what I'm thinking for Mr. Trumbo: TRJ: 4 CON: E (probably 6, maybe 7 if convinced otherwise) PWR: Mid-high B RUN: High F - Low E (has a lot more steals than I thought he would; he averages 6 a year, however, that's still damn slow) ARM: D (maybe? Help me interpret these fangraphs "arm" stats, please) FLD: E E-RES: E - D Positions: I'm thinking LF, then 1B, then 3B, though the ordering of the positions may be subject for debate. EDIT: Thanks to helpful advice, no 3B, and 1B being first, and adding RF. Abilities: Power Hitter is a must, maybe Timely Whiff if I can get it. Thoughts? Any advice on raw abilities, special abilities, anything? |

I'd go 1B, then LF, and then disregard 3B completely |

3.4 career speed rating would be a 7 in MLBPP, .247 career average is a 7, and arm is slightly above average, so a 9. High B power and E fielding also. F Eres, makes tons of errors |

Yeah agreeing with Skittle here...he was so bad at 3B, and only played the 9 games there. I would go 1B/LF/RF since that mirrors his playing time and abilities. If you look at his minor leagues, he was at 1B for 624 out of 664 games. He NEVER played 3B in the minors - the Angels were just goofing around on that one. TRJ 3 or 4 works CON 6 if you get any blues, 7 with no blues POW 170-190. If you get power hitter, aim lower like 175 SPD - yeah the steals are a suprise, he hit 10 in the minors one level. I think 8 is the right call. Gets caught a lot. ARM yeah he works out to about average, so 9-10 works. FLD E works for me, 7 range E Res of D, he's league average there at 1B. His issues are with not getting to balls, not booting them Power Hitter is fine but don't combine it with 200 power please, TRJ 4 will make him a cannon anyway. Vs Lefty 4 is perfectly OK, he hits them 20 points higher or so timely Whiff is a DEFINITE - all you have to do is strike out 10 times with power swing on during the course of success mode. Try to do it once per game to get it out of the way easily - especially if no one is on, or you are facing a tough pitcher like Jonathan/Sittch, or you already have 3 hits! Trumbo is like a younger Adam Dunn...slightly better average, better fielder, faster, younger, and righty... |

Thanks for the advice. If I get time later tonight, I'll see if I can crank him out. Alright, let's try to get the age thing out of the way, because I don't want to go through THAT again. He was born on January 16, 1986, and he is 28 days and 315 days old. Logically, I'd probably make him 22. But the game might think otherwise, and I might have to make him 21. What should I go with in this scenario? |

From the players I've made the players age should be how old they would be in 2007. Regardless of the month that is how I've done it with current players. |

So if I were born in 1978 for example, in 2007 I would have been 29 years old |

For mlbpp 08?? Are you sure? And when in 2007? I've made a ton of guys the age they should be as of 2008...I haven't heard that I've goofed them all up. That would be monstrous |

The age is from the beginning of the season, so it would be 22 here |

aar0nat0r wrote: The age is from the beginning of the season, so it would be 22 here That's what I tried to do with Jay yesterday, and look how that turned out. Here's a thought I just had: I'm gonna fire up my rom of the game, and create a player. I'll save state at the final ability screen where you enter in the date and age, and start entering stuff in to try to figure out if there's a date cutoff or anything, and then reloading the state to select another birth date, etc. That should figure it out. |

Dish and co, trust me on this one I have done many characters and had to redo many at the start because of the date of birth issue. For Trumbo put his age as 21 (age he would be in 2007) and the date of birth will be correct 16th Jan 1986. It may seem odd that this exists in the game, but don't make the mistake I did, it can mean pulling your hair out because the date of birth is off |

He is done! No snafus at all regarding anything, so here's how I did him: Positions: 1B/LF/RF DOB: 1/16/86 (correct! yay! Thanks, rob!) B/T: R/R Uni #44 TRJ: 4 CON: E 6 PWR: B 175 RUN: E 7 (8 was a bit too high, IMO) ARM: D 9 FLD: E 7 E-RES: D 8 Abilities: Vs. Lefty 4 Power Hitter Timely Whiff (Debated getting Pull Hitter near the end, but ultimately decided against it) Password: Attachment: CAM00210.jpg [ 88.19 KiB | Viewed 7882 times ] Enjoy! |
