So with over 2800 at-bats, Desmond is the biggest piece left in my success mode list. Prediction did a version here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=8253&p=166571&hilit=ian+desmond#p166571, but the arm strength of F is enough to kill his realism, unfortunately. Let's look at robhallet's version instead: Quote: SS/2B R/R # 6 Contact 7 Power 106 Run speed 12 Arm strength 13 Fielding 11 Trj 2 E-res 5 Vs Lefty 4 Firstball Hitter Timely whiff Throwing 2 Error prone Agg Field Agg run Most of that looks good, but power should probably be increased, given 20+ homers for 3 straight seasons. Run speed might be 11. vs lefty 4 is fine - he's actually sub-par when it comes to hitting righties (97 OPS+) over his career, so timely whiff and contact max of 7 works. Aar0nator's guide puts his .270 career average at an 8, but we'll go with 7 and rely on Vs Lefty 4 to make up the difference. He should be easy to whip up. Getting the 3 red abilities will be tougher, especially throwing 2. |

So I don't think Desmond really requires second base as a second position. In his MLB career he's played 758 games at SS, 5 at 2B, and 2 at RF. That's less than 1% of his games at another position. There's no Wiki information about playing 2B in the minors...according to baseball-reference, in 6 minor league seasons (631 games) he played just one game out of position, and that was in CF. I'm pretty close to finishing him up, and after Vs Lefty 4 I am thinking I will focus on getting his arm to 13, getting his power to 120-130, and that's about it. It's not that he couldn't play 2B...he's just a rare guy whose arm and abilities put him at SS only, I guess? Thoughts welcome. |

Yeah no way I can do B with the weeks I have left anyway. I will end up in the 130 range, maybe 140 if I want to do him more like today than 2010. |
