Power should definitely be a high C, he hits about 16 homers a year. Below average arm and fielding, so about 6 or 7 for both imo. Also can play some 3B, so give him that as a second position. |

.273 lifetime batting average, so I like a 9 or even 10 contact honestly...if its 8, a few blues would be fine. Chris Johnson is like .283 lifetime and I just gave him 10 plus Hot Hitter. There's not a lot of room between the .250 E contact, and the .320+ that an A represents, so guys like this I give the benefit. Contact is Walker's strongest suit from scouting reports (http://mlbscoutingreports.com/2014/01/1 ... walker-60/) so grade accordingly. Speed seems good - he does get steals (22 lifetime) so at least 8, maybe 9 with his doubles and triples, but his SB success rate is just over 50%...gets caught a lot. So avoid base stealing 4! If you stick with 8, baserunning 4 might make sense. I'd be more conservative with power...130 seems good, 140 max IMO. His hr total by year is 12, 12, 14, 16, 23. Thats not a slugger - he's a contact and gap hitter hitting his peak. Granted some of those were abbreviated seasons, but he's averaged 133 games a year. Walker was drafted as a catcher and spent the first few years in the minors as a catcher before being moved to a 3B. He never played 2B regularly (23 games total) until the Pirates tried him out there in 2010 when he stuck. So 3B as a 2nd position makes sense, and even catcher as a third if you want to be completist (like Pablo Sandoval and Carlos Santana, who have catcher position in our created versions). However, Walker never played a game at catcher in MLB, so it's totally your discretion. the way MLBPP works, they'll insert him at C full time, so pick your poison! He walks at a decent clip, but not enough for a good eye or tough out IMO. That's all I got! |
