Working on this guy next, trying to alternate between pitcher and fielder. Let's look first at Rob Hallet's version...but remember this was 2009, almost FIVE YEARS AGO! Quote: Daniel Murphy Mets LF/3B/1B L/R Contact 7 Power 112 Run speed 7 Arm strength 9 Fielding 8 Trj 2 E-res 8 Hot hitter firstball hitter tough out Base running 4 tough runner So yeah at the time, Murphy wasn't even a 2B yet. His primary position has always been 3B, but David Wright's presence forced him to spend time in LF, 1B, and even 2B. So this presents a problem - he has 4 major league positions, but the game only allows 3. He's probably best at 3B, but with just 28 games lifetime there, it's not a good sample size. He's struggled off and on everywhere else...every time I watch a Mets game, Murphy is trying to tag a guy when he shouldn't, or booting a ball...bottom line is, I can't make him a good fielder. And I think 2B has to be in there...but which other two? Murphy's best asset has got to be contact, with a .290 average - so that has to be high C or low B category at least. He does have a little power - 112 is a good start, maybe higher for all his doubles. He's also got speed, 55 career steals, 35 doubles a year or so, so a run speed of 10-11 seems possible. He had 2 assists from the OF in 60 games, and had to play 3B decently, so an arm of D (9) seems appropriate. Fielding being 7 or 8 is fine - he's consistently been a negative defensively according to SABR and advanced stats. BaseRunning 4 seems good - maybe that helps explain all his steals? Durability 2 might be appropriate given his missed time I might also do Error Prone, just from the personal experience of seeing him goof up in games so often at 2B Thoughts/feedback before I get too far in? |

Contact should be a 9 at least, maybe more in the 10-11 range. |

Well its done, and I got what I wanted - durability 2, error prone, and 3 positions...I really regret not doing 3B as my main, but oh well...he can now play along with David Wright on the same team. I ended up with too many blues, Power Hitter being the worst, so I shaved some off his power. Hopefully he makes everyone happy!
