I can't find any reports listing Scherzer's cutter...just SLD-CHG-2seamer. Kind of amazing that he has that kind of success with no curve or sinker or anything, but his fastball appears to do just fine. If anyone has any input before i finish him today, please let me know.

I had to start over, because my first roll-up gave him a curve to start. This one has gotten a ton of blue abilities - small ball, good pickoff, lucky, etc. He is a young flamethrower after all.

Still dont get the Scherzer/Jackson trade.

You kidding??

I mean, the Yanks won clearly, getting Granderson for pretty much spare parts.
The Tigers shed payroll, and a guy they thought was declining, while picking up a decent OF and a younger, cheaper version of Jackson. Not to mention future lefty closer in Schlereth!
D-Backs got parts and a more expensive #2/#3 in Jackson. Clear losers IMO.

Dumbrowski shouldn't have traded Granderson...

The Tigers got a great young pitcher in Scherzer! He is going to be an ACE! I wish my team had Scherzer. If you ask me he is already better than Edwin Jackson. You are upset about losing Granderson, his OPS has gone down every year since 2006 and his defense is decreasing rapidly as well. His WAR says he is a good player but he is certainly worth trading for some great prospects in Scherzer, Schlereth and Austin Jackson. Those three players are already pretty much locks for solid careers. Granderson is good but his 2007 season was a fluke.

Also Alloutwar, I think Scherzer's stamina should be more than a C because he is a SP after all.

I'd say high C, low B stamina for him is fine. Also, I don't know how to get it, but Power Pitcher would probably be accurate for Scherzer.

RE: the trade - I pretty much agree with Bobby Baseball. Not sure about Austin Jackson's future - he may be a 4th OF for a long time - but Scherzer is as good as Edwin Jackson, minus the high salary, attitude, and whatever got him shipped to 4 clubs in 4 years. Schlereth is a potential setup/closer. And Austin Jackson's defense, plus a replacement-level Phil Coke RP, is four good pieces, when you give up Edwin Jackson/Granderson - considering all the payroll room you save. Room to sign, say, Johnny Damon?

It's a mixed bag on Granderson - was he declining or still ascending, is his defense great or average, is he helpless vs lefties, etc - so selling high on him was a fine move. Overall, Detroit is better, and the Yanks are better as well. Only the D-Backs got worse AND more expensive. :)

Re: Scherzer's endurance - endurance is the #1 concern about him being a starter. It's the main reason many see him as a bullpen arm long-term (that, and no curve/4th pitch). According to baseball-reference, Scherzer lasted just 5.7 innings per start - in 30 starts, he racked up just 170 innings, no complete games. This guy is out of gas in the 6th, every night.

Considering the game defaults many starters to C stamina (and many to E stamina - WTF Royals roster?!?), I think Scherzer is one of those few potential relief future guys that warrants a mid-C stamina, or VERY low B.

But that's just my idea, and I'm open to counterpoints. Any other suggestions/ideas before I finish him up? Any ideas on the 2sfb or cutter in his repertoire?

info, pw's, etc

again, too many blues - I just rock too hard, its almost impossible to avoid now. But he got lit up pretty well in the final game vs. Sittch for the loss, so maybe those blues will help him be more sturdy in-game

Very nice job, I think you hit him dead on.

I just also noticed that it says "Brthday". Do you think it is because it was a typo or they couldn't fit the extra letter?
