Ah, one of my favorite rookies of the 2009 class. For a pitcher who doesn’t strike out a tone of guys, he sure is fun to watch. I finished my Success Mode version of Bergesen a couple of weeks ago, but he turned out to be David Cone on steroids so I trashed him.

If I had one complaint about your version, it’s that his repertoire is light. This is from an interview with Bergesen in April:

“I throw a four-seamer and a two-seamer. I throw a split-changeup, and I throw a slider and curveball. And just kind of depending on what's working that day, I try to go along with it. My changeup is usually my go-to pitch; I feel most comfortable throwing that in any count, and I feel like I have the best control of it.”

4SFB
2SFB
SPLT
SLD
CB

Split-change is a great description of his pitch (-6 mph w/ good horizontal movement) because it really does behave more like MLBPP’s version of the standard SPLT (-9 mph) than a CHG (-18 mph).

His fastballs are impossible to duplicate because both pitches are thrown at the same speed and have loads of horizontal movement - Fastball Life was a good idea. His 2SFB looks more like MLBPP’s SIFB, but it’s impossible to throw a SIFB the same velocity as the 4SFB, so 2SFB is probably the best option.

Like his two fastballs, Bergesen’s breaking ball combo – CB/SLD - features two similar pitches. His CB isn’t a classic 12-6 and his SLD is more vertical than horizontal. Visually speaking, a CB/SLV combo is more realistic. In fact, CB/KNCB might be even more realistic because his SLD has that little “hop” in it before it breaks down, just like MLBPP’s KNCB. I don’t know. I hate MLBPP’s version of the SLV because it’s a classic cement mixer pitch unless it’s a 6 or 7. Then again, it might be annoying to see “KNCB” every time Begesen throws a SLD. Pick your poison I guess.

So the options might be . . .

4SFB (93 mph)
2SFB (2) or SIFB (3)
SPLT (3) or, better yet, custom pitch SPLT w/ more CHG (3)
CB (2)
SLV (3) or KNCB (2)

One issue.... the ORIG pitch you suggested are you meaning fork with more change. I've never seen split w/more change.
