Yeah. Definitely getting stupider. Saying omglololol constitutes "Humor" these days and people in kindergarten can barely read and can't even write anymore.

apparently in sixth grade, my older brother (picking me up from a field trip to UVA and Monticello) overheard someone saying:
"Well, saying o m g is too long, so now i'm just going to say omg (pronounciating it ohmguh)."

DJ, is everything o.k.? You don't seem like yourself.

By the way, kindergarten is where the majority of children are taught to read and write. I didn't get taught those things until I was in first grade. So, standards have actually increased to what is being taught and learned. By the way, my son could speak so clearly by age two he was able to hold a conversation with most adults thinking he was just a tiny 4/5 year old. He knew all of his alphabet/numbers/colors/shapes by 18 months. He is extremely bright.

Now, if you are criticising parents for their lack of involvement in their childs mental, spiritual, and physical development before they reach school. I would probably have to agree. I think it is a shame that parents know rely on the government (when it shouldn't be their job) through the use of public institutions to teach our children truths about this world, when it should be our (parents) responsiblity to raise our children. My child goes to school to be educated about things related to reading, writing, and arithmetic, but we also work with him at home and make sure that we agree with what is being taught.

On a third note, is it "stupider" or "more stupid"? I am not a grammar expert, so I don't know, but stupider for some reason just doesn't sound right.

I completely agree. I can't count all the child neglect crap I've been hearing about this past month...

Which avatar? I changed avatars after I posted that stuff. Most recent "Humor" "Hey teacher how do you say hilt in french, like a dragonsword hilt?"
*Everybody laughs for a full minute*

And I think it would make more sense if it was stupider instead of more stupid. It sounds like the same difference between it's and it is, weren't and were not, etc...
And I used to be able to write 4 page rhyming storys in kindergarten. Of course because of the pictures and colors it didn't have too many words. My first one was about a fat cat with a hat. And then I wrote a non-rhyming story probably 6 pages about a cat and a mouse. After that I wrote a 10 page story about a bird who couldn't fly as high as his friends so he wasn't accepted by the group until he could (The toy story video game inspired one of the pages of this book.It turns out it was my brother inside the robot.). And there was that french coloring book, oh wait, that was in grade 2.

For the first book I think I still have it lying around somewhere. For the second I don't remember seeing it in the last 2 years, and the story about the bird I have a few pages but most of them are missing. I think I might still have the french one too.
