Posting:

* Individual players should be in their own thread, with the full name of the player and position(s) in the title. Don't add superlatives or any other shout outs to it... we will see your guys...
* If you post a team or a set of players, add players by editing your starting post so they're all in the same post. A bump to announce the edit is appropriate.
* Posting images are fine, provided they are small in dimension and data. 800x600 and ~50Kb should be the biggest you can post inline (using the [IMG] tag), anything larger, post a link or a clickable thumbnail instead.
* If you have wiki rights, add your player(s) and team(s) there as well!

I noticed that your brother-in-law signed up and made a (empty at this point) page for his team on the wiki. It will be interesting see the Louisiana thunder haha. By the way, what exactly were the restrictions and limits you guys made.
Your lucky with the gamblers's rings, it usually takes me around 70-100 to get them.

I actually put that on the Wiki to hopefully jump start his sorry butt into making some players. I think he has made maybe 2.

As far as the limitations. I threw some numbers together based on what I remembered or thought from 2007. I have since changed my opinion about each abilities worth; therefore, they don't really make sense any more, but the stipulations still exist for the team creation.

Some limitations were like 3 gyroballers only, 3 intimidators only for pitchers.

I have a weighted system for pitches, like change-up weight is worth 1, while palmball weight is worth 1.4. You multiply that times your pictch level and add up all the pitch worth. You take that number and multiply by the number of different pitches you have and then divide by 3. This is your pitching worth. This value cannot be above 45 for more than 2 players, and you have to have less than 18 for at least 5 players.

So, basically the formula hurts you if you add more than 3 pitch types to your pitcher. Most pitchers don't have more than that generally. Here is an example

Change-up(1) Level 7, Palm Ball(1.4) Level 4, Slider(1) Level 3

( 1 * 7 + 1.4 * 4 + 1 * 3 ) = 15.6 * 3 / 3 = 15.6 Pitch Worth
The bold blue 3 represents the number of different pitches you can throw.

Change-up(1) Level 3, Palm Ball(1.4) Level 4, Slider(1) Level 3, Foshball(1.1) Level 1

(1 * 3 + 1.4 * 4 + 1 * 3 + 1.1 * 1) = 12.7 * 4 / 3 = 16.9 Pitch Worth
The bold blue 4 represents the number of different pitches you can throw.

As you can see, you may have lower level pitches, but adding an addition pitch will hurt your numbers. For a batter, it would be a lot harder to tell what pitch may be coming if there are a lot more of them.

Make sure you put Gregory "Reset" Hughes on the team. Other than not having Intimidator for a catcher, no one could make him better. He is maxed to the limit. He could be your stud!!!!!

That's very interesting, I might try some of those limitations for myself (although I've passed some I believe so far at least once). Any limitations on hitters? I want to try to make one that is maxed (without a genius) and hope for luck with good job, so I might pass this as I already have 3 near-maxed guys (two are maxed with the exception of 9-10 abilities and power, one is maxed with the exception of a fielding stat that I am maxing in success mode and he doesn't have 5 abilities. He could be completely maxed with the exception of In-Field-Hitter).
By the way, the section for guides to success mode is practically empty and you do seem like one of the "leading experts" on making success players. Just to fill an important spot on the wiki and a guide for impatient users, you might want to consider righting a more personalized guide as everyone has there own style and strategy that would differer from the more factual information in the wiki.

Okay, I'm really bad, but I'd like to see anything related to me in talk about good players. If I don't, my self-esteem will get bruised and then I'll feel bad and stop posting on here. Please? I've got a couple realistic (which is code for bad) players. My pitchers are B,B, C,B, D,B (with Gyro), and E,B (attempt at Gyro, failed :( ). I'm working on Dante Powell, a player with maxed speed.

Heh. Theres "good" players...then theres Smilingfaces and Mr.Welz players... I have built several players I thought were great , until I saw some of those guys players. Reset and ? are simply insane. Roscoe is damn good, and Mr.Welz SIFU from last year is pretty much perfect.

I have made several all 15/255 power ability players, but somehow I always miss a few skills along the way (intimidator). Even my best guys dont look that great next to the players these guys have made.

If I ever can figure out how to get my camera to take shots of my TV without it getting all blacklined I will post a few of my best players, they dont stack up against the best of the best, but they are pretty good- and I always have something to aspire to after seeing how SF96, and Mr.Welz build such studs.

The bottom line is build the best you can, and learn what you can from those who are better at it then you, then keep at it until you feel good about the guys you build.

Us little leaguers cant compare ourselves to the Babe Ruth of MLBPP success mode.

Nice metaphor.
And it's sad but true.
And good because we can type their players' passwords and use them as our own player, though!

Notice the new sticky at the top of this forum (about typing passwords)? Now you don't need a camera :D .

Please guys, stop going off topic and having the two/three person conversations. No one else can often respond to them and they make the thread fall apart.
