By "this year", he means the 08 version of the game.

Oh ok that makes sense. Ironically, I completed a player without reloading just yesterday, but that's not important. But CoolDude brought up a good point. What's the point of making a rediculous player when there's already over 50 others to choose from.

Maxed players are nothing more than trophies. You collect a few, the novelty fades, and you evolve.

Well trophies you have forever, even if they break. But if the wii breaks, your screwed, and lose everything.

I don't think that was his point.

What he was saying is that trophies are a meaningless thing. They look cool, and you're impressed by them for a bit, but, eventually, you realize you don't need them and, ultimately, they serve no purpose.

Or they can show you that your hard work paid off, and you accomplished something in your life. Unless its one that say "Good Job" that you get in kindergarten, or 1st grade.

Fair enough, but again, you've missed the point.

My point is maxed players are fun for a period, but 40-0 scores and piles of homeruns lead to eventual boredom and a bunch of maxed players (and hours of work) gathering dust on the shelf. We might enjoy MLBPP in different ways, but the one goal we all strive for is a quality baseball experience. For me, infusing realism in a way that also keeps the game challenging provides the most entertainment. Not that everyone should share my philosophy, but there are few things more rewarding than watching your #9 hitter, mired in a slump, break out with a walk-off hit. I'll take that over another five-homer game from Johnny Maxout every time.

I seriously want to name a player Johnny Maxout now...

Though I can't actually max out my players, I've had a few all A's, but my best is a hitter with all 15's and 247 power. Ah well, it wouldn't be worth the time for me to make him anyway, pretty much because of all the reasons already mentioned.

This, I played a game where Kenji Johjima hit a three run walk off homer. Awesome stuff.

Ok I get it now, I see what you were saying and its true, the only batters that are fun are the pitchers. (Unless you are using an AL team.)

:picard: Again, that is not what he means! He means it's more rewarding to do good with an average player than it is a maxed player

I have a quick question concerning this topic. Whenever i finish a success character or input one I put them on an arrange team and see how they perform in "watch mode". It seems to me that the "average" players perform much better than the all "A" juggernauts. Characters with "Clutch 5" never hit in the clutch. Pitchers (some, not all) with "A" stamina tap out after 5 innings. Whats the point in making a beast if it doesn't perform up to what you created?

I prefer the more realistic characters.
