www.floridapolitics.com BREAKING NEWS: Florida now has THREE baseball teams. THREE. Unbelievable. The Rays and Marlins are doing poorly as it is. How is an expansion team going to succeed in this state? In this economic situation. We are on the verge of economic recession people! This team is going nowhere. So many other places deserve a team. Montreal. Omaha. Las Vegas. So many other places. This team is going to ruin the economy of Florida. Prepare for the collapse Florida. www.espn.com MLB adds Two Teams in Charlotte and Orlando Two new teams prepare for their first ever seasons in Major League Baseball. The Orlando Raptors and Charlotte Batdogs are the two newest members to the MLB family, expanding the league to a 32-team league. Orlando has an owner that everyone and their mother will recognize, famous actor Charlie Sheen. Sheen says his goal is to build a "winning" team by temporarily giving up cocaine to invest more money into the team. Sheen will look to hire a General Manager in the upcoming weeks. Charlotte is owned by a man who declares himself "Emperor" Palpatine. Palpatine is a very influential man who can sway others to the "dark side". His goal is to build the Batdogs into an Empire. We will see what direction these two teams will go during the 2008 Expansion Draft. Stay tuned on Sports Center. |

One day before the expansion draft, the Raptors have hired inexperienced GM Kendrick Pederson. Pederson has a business degree from Cornell, but does not know much about baseball. This is a highly controversial move by Owner Charlie Sheen. Hopefully Kendrick will read up on his baseball facts. Also, the Raptors will be playing in the AL East, with the Charlotte Batdogs in the NL East, and the Houston Astros moving to the AL West. The Raptors will be forced to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox yearly. The expansion draft has finished. Here is the roster: Daiki Hirayama CF Omi Hsia LF John Inglett RF Gary Chapman 1B Adam Piersoll DH Jason O'Day 3B Garret Bannon SS Kenny Sparks 2B Jason Andrews C Shane McConnell 2B Yoshio Kamiya C Lon Sain LF Neal Bridges CF Gareth Brownlie CF James Barden CF Joe Crozier SP Jose Murillo SP Kevin Wylie SP Jesse Pickler SP Abe Finegan SP Jose Gregorio LR Phil Neagle MR James Bouknight SU Conor McMillan CL Abilities to be posted later. |

April 2, 2008 Orlando Raptors (0-0) New York Yankees (0-0) What a way to start your history. Against the 26-time World Champion New York Yankees. The Evil Empire of baseball. The Raptors were hyped for the game, with new manager David Johnston saying, "This is the best day of my 46 year life." Hopefully the Raptors share this optimism. Omi Hsia was responsible for the first hit in Raptors history, a single to center. The Raptors were given a rude awakening, making a few defensive errors, allowing New York to score four runs. However, The Raptors fought right back and tied it on an RBI single from Daiki Hirayama. However, The Yanks struck right back, putting up a three-spot, and taking a 7-4 lead. The Raptors were again calm, and tied it right back up! 7-7 in the 4th! Orlando added on yet another run in the fourth. The Raptora added yet another one on, and could have scored more without some base running mistakes. The Raptors weren't done, and added three more. They led the Yanks 12-7! No more runs were scored, and the Raptors won the first game in their history. Final: Orlando 12 New York 7 W- Gregorio 1-0 L- Wang 0-1 HR- Inglett (1) O'Day (1) Hirayama 2-6, 2 RBI Hsia 2-5 Inglett 4-5, HR, RBI Chapman 5-5, RBI Piersoll 2-4, RBI O'Day 3-5, HR, 2 RBI Bannon 3-5, RBI Sparks 3-5, 2 RBI Andrews 2-5 Crozier 2 IP, 9 H, 3 K, 7 R, 6 ER Gregorio 6 IP, 6 H, 9 K, 0 R, 0 ER Bouknight 1 IP, 0 H, 0 K, 0 R, 0 ER |
