Intro

After weeks of editing, I have finally updated my rosters to the 2013 season, I will be starting a season mode with the Houston Astros, arguably the worst team in the MLB, I will not be doing much story on this log as I seem to get burnt out very quickly when I do them(even though I had a really great story planned out involving Bo Porter) so i'm going to try and keep it to just game updates/recaps. Agents are going to be allowed(2 per forum member) just for bragging rights only. Opening day rosters are going to be coming in the next update. Also I will be playing in the NL Central, I know the Astros are in the AL now but I hate the strategy aspect that is taken away when the pitcher doesn't have to bat.

March 24th, 2013

The Houston Astros have added two veteran players to their roster via free agency, they have signed CF Rick Ankiel and utility man Chone Figgins both to one year deals worth a disclosed amount, first year manager Bo Porter had this to say about the move, "We really like what these guys bring to the table, Rick Ankiel has an amazing arm and Chone Figgins brings a lot of speed into the line up, This team might be in rebuilding mode but with these new faces anything can happen."

CF- Rick Ankiel
B/T: L/R
CON: E
PWR: D
RUN SPD: E
ARM STR: B
FLD: D
TRJ: 2
E RES: D

2B/CF/3B- Chone Figgins
B/T: S/R
CON: D
PWR: F
RUN SPD: B
ARM STR: C
FLD: E
TRJ: 2
E RES: D

Later in the day the Houston Astros were on the move again, this time requesting a trade with the Marlins, if the trade were to be approved this is how things would shape out.

Marlins would get
SP- Lucas Harrell
TOP SPD: 93
CTRL: D(128)
STAM: B(117)
CONSISTENCY: 4
2SFB: 1
CHG: 2
CB: 2
SLD: 3
CUT: 2

Astros would get
SP- Nate Eovaldi
TOP SPD: 97
CTRL: F(108)
STAM: C(107)
FB LIFE: 2
Slow Starter
CHG: 2
CB: 3
SLD: 2

The trade looks like an easy win for the Marlins but Astros GM Jeff Luhnow said "we really need to get rid of some of our big contracts that just haven't panned out and this trade is a good way to lower our player salary."

The Houston Astros started the 2013 season off with a hard fought road win against the Padres of San Diego, The pitching was great today for both teams but especially for the Astros as Bud Norris pitched 6 innings, giving up only 5 hits while striking out 1, Manager Bo Porter had this to say. "We played really great today, Jason Castro called a good game behind the plate and Norris hit the spots he gave up and gave our team the chance to win."

Bedard Pitches a Shutout
Post Game Interview

Reporter: Erik how does it feel to start the season with such a great performance

Bedard: Its great, you always want to get off to a quick start, but on the other hand I can't expect to do this every time I go out to pitch, i'm going to have bad days like everyone else, the key is to just stay focused.

Reporter: Today you only threw 64 pitches(31 FB, 12 CUT, 11 CB, 9 CHG, 1 MISTAKE) to get 27 outs, how were you able to do that?

Bedard: Well I like to pound the strike zone and let the defense behind me make plays and they did just that today.

Yea i'm not really sure why Cabrera was batting clean up, I'm also not sure why Bryce Harper and Joey Votto aren't playing, I figured the computer would manually edit their line ups to make the best possible line up, do any of you know if they will eventually or will the line ups always be less than perfect?

Arrange Mode, or else you get weird lineups built around the default rosters.

Post subject:  Re: 2013 Houston Astros Log

Ah, Well I think I might need to make arrange teams and start over, luckily I realized that before I played more than 3 games, I'll still keep the same roster and agents, I'll just go back and edit the results of the Padres series to match what they actually end up being.

I played with Arrange teams in my Mendenhals log, and I still had the wacky-ass lineups.

So you think I should just keep going and not worry about it?
