Colorado Rockies(0-1) @ St.Louis Cardinals(1-0)
March 31st, 2008- The Cardinals started off their 2008 campaign with an Opening Day win, at home versus the Colorado Rockies. The Cards didn't get a hit until the bottom of the 4th, when Aaron Miles lead off with a single, then stole second. Rookie Brian Barton then reached on a Clint Barmes error on a grounder at short. Pujols hit another to Barmes, who tried getting Miles at home, but the throw was late and everyone was safe, scoring Miles. Chris Duncan and Yadi Molina each hit RBI singles later in the inning, and gave Cardinals' starter Adam Wainwright a 3-0 lead after 4. Wainwright went strong then, until 2 outs in the top of the 7th, when he gave up a 2 run homer to Brad Hawpe, narrowing the Cardinal lead to 1. That was the end of Wainwright, and Ryan Franklin was called in for relief. He held the Rockies silent through the 8th, and Jason Isringhausen was brought in to close the 9th. With 2 outs, and 2 strikes, Brad Hawpe hit a foul ball back near the wall. Molina dove in an attempt to catch it and end the game, but hit the wall and had to be taken out. Hawpe struck out on the next pitch. After the game, Molina said; "I'm fine. Really. It was just a caution to take me out, they didn't want me to get seriously hurt on Opening Day. I'll be back next game." One thing that plagued the Rockies was 3 errors throughout the game. Rockies' starter Aaron Cook only allowed 1 earned run, but 2 unearned.

And forgot to add, I started with injuries on, but they were pesky, and now they are off. I think there's one more game where they have an effect, but after that they're off.

St.Louis Cardinals(5-3) @ Houston Astros(6-3)
April 8th, 2008-The Cards lost an early season battle for 1st place in the NL Central today, against Houston. Chris Carpenter got into trouble early, giving up back-to-back singles to Bourn then Matsui, then a 3 run homer to Lance Berkman in the bottom of the 1st. Carpenter was solid after that, striking out 6 in 5 innings. In the 5th he got some run support, when Molina hit an RBI double to right center making it 1-3. In the 6th, Duncan tied it with a 2 run homer, 3-3. Pence and Tejada got the lead back shortly after for the 'Stros, with back to back doubles. Matsui hit a solo homer in the 7th, making it 3-5, Astros leading. Glaus answered with a solo homer in the 8th, but J.R. Towles smacked an RBI single, and opposing pitcher Wandy Rodriguez hit a 2 RBI single, putting the Cards down 4-8. They wouldn't score again, and would take the loss. Chris Carpenter said he was happy with the way he pitched, after the first inning, but "You can't win them all. The Astros are going to be tough this year, by the looks of it. I think we'll be fighting them all year long. So it kinda stinks we couldn't get this win against them."
