In season mode, have you ever tried technique training? Were you successful?

I have 4 players who I'm not training up on the main facets of the game (hitting/fielding/etc), so I figured I'd park them in abilities training. They all failed - intimidator, 1st ball hitter, and tough out. I also noticed that you can't train someone for awhile and then move them to something else, like rest. When you move back to technique training, you end up starting over again from 0.

Anyone know what the odds are of succeeding? Maybe it's worth buying the 3-star ability training equipment to save/reload during spring training?

I'm trying to save up to buy Powerin for next season - not sure if I'll have enough for the technique training, too

I've been successful getting intimidator with a pitcher, but that was pretty much the only time I've tried it.

Did you train on that during the season or spring training?

I think the easiest abilities to get had like a 20% chance of success, and a lot of abilities have such a ridiculously low chance of success that the odds are your save file will be corrupted through too much reloading before you get the ability.

Technique training isn't practical at all if you don't plan on reloading a lot, and even then it isn't very good. I'd probably only use it if you don't want your players getting much better for whatever reason.

I appreciate that input. My season is winding down and I was thinking of buying technique training equip. I imagine Intimidator and gyroball is crazy-low. I was thinking about "spray hitter" and infield hitter for my batters and strong finisher and Dr K for pitchers.

It'd be tough to waste training on stuff that won't succeed

the way you can improve the chances by puting a group together, for example i trained a High B power player with A Rod and he successfully got Power Hitter in the second try.

If you were training with A-rod, why didnt you train for intimidator? Doesn't power hitter just means your guy swings for the fences more in CPU mode?

If training with a buddy really helps, maybe it makes sense to sign Randy Johnson when he's really bad, just to train other guys on intimidator?

Power Hitter gives you a lot more lift to the ball, and I think it gives you more power on off-center contact.

I don't think training in a group improves the chances of getting an ability, just the time it takes before you have the chance to get it. I was training in a group and the good abilities were still unachievable.

yes it does because you got to trust the player, just like the Assistant Owner said.
