In a shocking turn of events, the Baltimore Orioles have fired their GM, and have replaced him with Jeff Harvey, a 22-year-old Harvard graduate with no experience as a GM. When asked about the change, President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail said that Harvey was "a genius," and that he could make "a big impact for the Orioles."

We'll soon discover whether MacPhail's decision was a good one. We'll be keeping our eyes on the Orioles, hoping for a turnaround.

--------------------------------

So what do you guys think? I'm wanting to turn this into a major log.

Also, positions are open for 3 scouts (one head), a pitching coach, and a hitting coach. Send me your resume and I'll put you to work.

I think it'll be interesting as long as you keep it up and you're enjoying yourself. We haven't had a real team-log in a little while.

I suppose I could be the pitching coach, here's my résumé.

Name: C.J Medrano
Age: 52
Biography: Born to a poor family in the Dominican Republic, C.J didn't have much to entertain himself, he took up playing baseball with his friends, family and other strangers, he was a very good pitcher in his little league and was noticed by a scout for the Baltimore Orioles who then signed him, he then converted into a third baseman after the staff noticed he could throw at 105 but almost always threw balls, he became an outstanding hitter, being elected to 15 all-star games in a row, and winning 14 MVP awards, he didn't win his 15th as he denied the honour and instead took VVP (very valuable player) as his award, he then retired and was elected to the hall of fame in his first year of eligibility. In 2008 he had surgery performed on him to make him look and feel like a 21 year old and started playing for the New Orleans Hornets, he retired right before the 2008 season however as he said "it's time for someone else to lead a team." He then took up pitching again like he did when he was a kid and found a flyer asking for a Baltimore Orioles pitching coach. He immediately took up the opportunity and started writing a biography with the words "born to a poor..."
Previous jobs: MLB third baseman

Okay, so we have our hitting and pitching coaches. Just need the scouts. Any applicants?

Baltimore Orioles Front Office
January 17, 2008

As he walked into the building, Jeff pondered his future, and the future of the organization that he was about to take charge of. "I hope I don't get fired," he pondered, quietly praying for everything to go right.

He got to the front desk, and asked Tina, Mr. MacPhail's assistant, to let him know that he was here. After receiving Mr. MacPhail's confirmation, she showed Jeff into the office.

"Glad to see you made it, Mr. Harvey," MacPhail said as he entered. "I have some different things I want to discuss with you, mainly staff."

"Okay," Jeff stated, quietly pondering what MacPhail's meaning was.

"First off, I want you to know that we have recently hired a new pitching coach, Mr. C.J. Medrano, who used to be a third baseman in the MLB, and-"

"Hold on," Jeff said. "A third baseman? I thought he was supposed to be a pitching coach!"

"He is," MacPhail said, with a smile and a slight chuckle. "He was a pitcher before he converted to third baseman."

"Okay," Jeff said uneasily. "Proceed."

MacPhail continued: "We have also hired a new hitting coach, Mr. Joey Acaccia, who was the bench coach for the Athletics from 2000 to 2005, and has served as their hitting coach for the past two years, and a new manager, Mr. Buck Showalter."

"Anything else I need to know about?" Jeff asked.

"One last thing," MacPhail stated. "We have three openings for scouts, including the position of head scout. If you know anybody, don't hesitate to give them a call."

"Okay," Jeff said. "I'll think it over."

"Good," MacPhail said, walking Jeff out of his office. "I'll have the roster for you on your next visit. From here on out, you have control of the team."

"Alright," Jeff said, gulping on the inside.

-------------------------------------------

So does anybody want to be a scout? I still have those openings, and I'd like to have them filled before the roster update tonight.

This is gonna be a fun log. :boogie:

Just find kids or success players who are good enough to be added

Yeah, I might have the scouts make a player(s) for me for each draft, or I may have them just be a name for the log, with some minor input on what I should improve. Scrwarrior, I'd love to have you.

ok, I guess I can try it to see how i am at it.

Name: Stan McCormack
Age: 24
Bio: As a young teenager, Stan grew up in a small, religious town called Bomont. As a kid Stan's passion was dancing, he and his friends would dance from sun up to sundown, that is until local minister Ben Hoover(aka "no groove hoove") got the city council to ban dancing because he never learned how to dance and said that it was "unholy." With no more dancing Stan didn't know what to do, until one day, Stan, at the young age of 15 was walking by the park and saw a bunch of people from his school playing baseball. The kids invited Stan to play and in no time at all Stan was hitting 400 ft bombs, Stan had found a new hobby and he never looked back. Stan went on to attend The University of Oklahoma where he was a star Center Fielder for 4 years. Stan then went on to get drafted by the Baltimore Orioles, though he never played an inning in the big leagues due to a freak dancing accident(ironic right?) that injuried his knee beyond repair. Stan hopes this chance to be a scout will help him stay close to the game that he loves.

If you want me to create a more serious one I can, this was my first time creating a bio and I decided to try a more comedic approach lol

This works, but it is funny.

Alright, one scouting position left, and I might do a bench coach as well. Scrwarrior, if you want McCormack to be the bench coach instead of a scout, he can be.

I'll do the scout position. Sounds easy enough for me.

Jordan McJordanson
Age 48
A former pitcher in a New Zealand(not FROM New Zealand) league, who never made it to the big leagues. Specializes in scouting pitchers, doesn't know much of what to look for in fielders.

Sounds like he'll fit into the storyline pretty well! One more scout!
