I'm not sure how many other people have noticed/thought this, but season logs don't seem to last long anymore. Whether it be that people get bored, don't feel like writing updates anymore, think they have an even batter idea for a different log, or even just don't have the time, most logs seem to end quickly and without a proper ending. Looking at current and recent season logs, you will see this:

1. A bunch of new logs
Mendenhals, Orioles, Gunmen, Skyhawks, Aliens, Venom
2. A bunch of older logs still in their first season
Country, Slayers, Eagles, Cubs
3. A bunch of dead logs
Nationals, Marlins, Revolution, Mario, Pirates
4. A couple older logs that stay updated, but rarely
Knights, Stranglers

So, my questions for all you people is this. A. What are some things to do to have a successful log, and B. What are some things NOT to do to have a successful log

A. Pick a game, team, and idea you can support for 3+ years.
B. Pick a game you won't get bored of.
C. Don't buy any new games while working on a log.

I know that I will keep doing the Skyhawks log, but no one cares about it and it makes me mad. Maybe people will care more about it when I am in the MLB.

Hm... Mine will be updated more frequently once the crossover is over

Anyways,
A. Make sure you enjoy the game/team you're using. Keep it interesting with story updates, and such
B. Make it just the games

PPFan, both your points seem to contradict each other

I'm not sure how I feel about rebuilding teams, because those seem to die the quickest or be the most successful. If you have enough patience to make it past the first year (or two, or three...) of losing, then you'll have something good brewing. But trudging past the constant losing is difficult and ends up just making you bored

The key to having a lengthy log is simply this:

Don't care when absolutely nobody seems interested in the most thought out or significant updates or just the log in general. If you can ignore the fact that nobody seems to care, you can keep a log going until the end. If you're just doing a log for attention, it won't get very far. At all.

Hm... I don't think that they contradict eachother. I may have not been clear enough, though. I meant fu with the game, as in the video game. And on then the second point, I meant the actual games in the game.

Same goes for my log.

It also has to do with the fact that I am hosting he awards and school is starting. So, al lot is going on at the moment.

I'll take note of that Cooldude.

Don't be a lazy-ass.

This has felled me many times.

PPFan, I mean in A, you said do story updates, but in B, you said only do the games. I think I understand what you mean, but I'm not quite sure

And I think part of the issue with keeping a good log is the actual updating. After playing a 30 minute game, you don't always want to take another 20 to write up an update

It's okay to take a bit of a break.

If people like your log, they will be anxiously waiting for your next update, if they don't like it, no one will care.

Ah, I see. I meant don't just do all the games, since it was in the "what not to do" section.

Sorry 'bout that

Also, another key to just having a lengthy log, don't delete your season/life file, even if it doesn't seem like you'll want to play that any longer. You might come back and read your own log and start updating again over 2 years after you started the log.

Oh, ohohohoh. I see what you mean PPFan. Kinda similar to that point, don't do every game. Look at how far PPJ has gone in his Slayers log, yet he's still in May. I know he's done a ton of other things in that log, but the progress of the calender is slow none-the-less
