Post subject:  New Expansion Team (unnamed thus far)

Here's where I post the players for the new expansion team which I will follow in my Season Log along with the Sapporo Sluggers. Here's the first one:

Dylan Hooper, SP

R/R, #47, 3-17-1988

99mph, D 122, A 198, ORIG* 5, CHG 1

w/RISP 4, VS LH Batter 4, Poise 4, Fastball Life 4, Recovery 4, Hot Head

SCOUTING REPORT

Dylan Hooper is a young starter with loads of talent. He throws a high-90s fastball with good life, a straight changeup, and a power curve, called the Donut. He has good stamina and average control.

INTRODUCTION

Zack Hooper was tired of his brother, Dylan, always begging him to take him places. One day, Zack gave in and took Dylan to his baseball practice. Dylan watched practice from the stands. While observing, Dylan quickly picked up the sport. Dylan had/has a lot of energy, and he was able to learn a lot by training, and even learned a new pitch. He called this pitch the "Donut" after his favorite food. He advanced through AA and AAA with ease, hurling several shutouts. Dylan is a lifelong Nationals fan, but was put into the Expansion Draft along with his brother, Zack, a first baseman.

----------

Zack Hooper, 1B

L/L, #9, 9-22-1983

3, E 6, A 191, G 3, G 3, F 4, F 4

Power Hitter, Push Hitter, Tough Out, GD Bunt, Firstball HTR, Table Setter, Throwing 4, HD 1st Slide

GD Strike Zone: 1st row, right; 2nd row, middle

SCOUTING REPORT

Zack Hooper is a true power hitter. He hit a ton of homers in the minors and also hit for a stellar average. Zack plays first base but is definitely more suited to be a DH or pinch hitter, a lá Jim Thome or Jason Giambi.

INTRODUCTION

Zack Hooper always hated his brother. His brother, Dylan, would always beg Zack to take him places. One day, Zack decided to take Dylan to his baseball practice. Afterwards, Zack noticed Dylan's interest in baseball growing steadily. Zack still doesn't particularly like Dylan, but they now have 3 things in common- they like the Nationals, they play pro baseball, and they got put into the Expansion Draft. Zack is certainly going to act up more than most players, but it's probably overshadowed by his extreme hitting ability. Zack recently played one season for the Nationals, batting .199 with 16 homers and 37 RBI.

Adam Bradley, SP

R/R, #10, 8-27-1984

94mph, D 130, A 182, ORIG 6

VS LH Batter 4, Poise 4, Fastball Life 4, Recovery 4, Groundball P

SCOUTING REPORT

Bradley is a quality starter with 2 good pitches. He throws a fastball in the low 90's with good life and a vulcan changeup. He gets a lot of groundballs with the sinking slowball, and otherwise is a pretty effective pitcher.

INTRODUCTION

Adam Bradley is a quiet guy. He prefers to keep to himself, but is also a good presence in the clubhouse. Adam has two brothers, Brad and John. Brad was a third baseman as a freshman in college but switched to track. John is currently a backup utilityman on his high school's JV team.

Julio Reyes, SP

L/L, #85, 12-17-1977

88mph, C 137, C 89, 2SFB 2, CUT 1, KNCB 2, V-SLD 1, ORIG 2

VS LH Batter 4, Fastball Life 4, Recovery 4, GD Low Pitch, Choke Artist, Consistency 2

SCOUTING REPORT

Reyes is a crafty lefty who relies on his 5 breaking balls. He throws a 2-seamer, cutter, knuckle curve, slider, and vulcan changeup. His slider has good tilt and his changeup works as a sinker. Reyes also has great control of his pitches.

INTRODUCTION

Reyes is definitely the veteran of the team. At age 30, he is just now joining the professional ranks after 8 years playing independent ball. Julio learned his slider and curve first; they both served as strikeout pitches for him before he started pitching to contact. He does have a tendency to choke in the clutch, whether pitching or talking to someone.
