(This will begin with a story update, because there's no way I could just start off in such absurd circumstances without an equally absurd explanation of how it all happened)

In the Mushroom Kingdom:

An All-Star game has just been played, all of the best baseball players in the Mushroom Kingdom are still gathered around the field. Mario’s team beat Bowser’s by a score of 10-9, but the players are getting bored of these games, they always have similar teams even with the captains drafting because there simply isn’t enough talented baseball players across the land. They want more competition, they want more variety in their games, they want to play in a league. In the midst of their complaints, a warp pipe has appeared on the pitcher’s mound, it goes unnoticed for several moments, until Diddy Kong shrieks at it, alerting everyone.
Nobody had any idea where it came from, nobody had any idea where it might go, but they already finished with their game, so why not find out? Mario jumps in first, Bowser, not wanting to be outdone, immediately follows him. Shortly after, both of their teams go in to follow their captains.

Just outside Washington’s Stadium:

“Do you think the players will care that we’re late?”

“I doubt they would notice if we didn’t show up, that’s how little they pay attention to our advice…”

The Washington Nationals’ coaches talk amongst themselves as they head into the stadium, late for the team practice, the first practice since the offseason. None of them were prepared to see what they did.

“WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?!” The hitting coach screamed towards the field. “I know you guys might be a little rusty after the offseason, but how could you have possibly forgotten the game to this extent?”

None of the players even turned to pay attention to him, they just kept on doing what they were doing, the coaches just watched, discussing amongst themselves.

“Why is Kearns trying to bat using his glove?”

“Did Dukes just try to catch the ball in his mouth?”

“Why is Lopez climbing the wall? He’s an infielder!”

After the players got bored and stopped playing, they began paying attention to their surroundings, and had a lot of questions. They met with the coaches and had a lengthy discussion.

Coach: “So, you guys aren’t really the Washington Nationals?”

Mario: “No, we’ve never heard of Washington, and what’s a National?”

Coach: “Never mind that right now, there are way more important questions to deal with, how did you get here, and why do you all look like the players?”

Mario: “We’ve said all we know, we went through a pipe, and when we got here we had these bodies, it’s a little hard to get used to.”

Peach: “Yeah, I mean, I’m supposed to be a woman.”

Coach: “Right, well, I have no idea how to deal with this situation, I’ll try to arrange a meeting with the Commisioner…”

Spring Training had to be canceled to deal with these absurd circumstances, but they managed to sort everything out by opening day. The Washington Nationals are now known as the Kyoto Superstars, they have a new stadium, which isn’t actually based anywhere near Kyoto, because the travel times wouldn’t be manageable at all, and they have new uniforms. They’ve gotten used to their new bodies, although they’ve used whatever they could to try to make them resemble their old ones, and they’ve adjusted to playing baseball with them. Ultimately, this is what they wished for, they wanted to play in a league, but could they really compete with all the best in a place they’ve never even heard of? Who knows… Also, who knows what happened to the real Washington Nationals, will they ever find their way back?

Opening day rosters, coming next...

Opening Day rosters announced after F/A signings:

Superstars GM signed free agent pitchers Nomo, Hernandez, and Gonzalez, to fill the last spots open on the Superstars team. He stated that the team mostly takes low salaries and lacked pitching depth, so this move should help them. He then released the roster.

Every media outlet around was trying to get the first story on how the team may perform, but nobody had any idea how. The staff blocked off all practices to the public, and nobody was accepting any interviews. After a reporter broke into the General Manager's house at night to try to get an interview, he finally decided he was going to need to do an interview to get these people to stop bothering him. He agreed to a press conference the day before their opening game. He then got a restraining order against that reporter and upgraded his home security.

At the press conference:
Reporter: "I think the question everyone has been trying to ask you, for the most part, is how well do you think this team is going to do? Can they compete in this league?"
General Manager: "Well, from what I've been able to tell, they seem to be even better than the Nationals, of course, that doesn't really say too much about them. I still can't tell for sure if they'll be able to compete, but they'll be closer to it than the other team."
Reporter: "What do you think the strengths and weaknesses are of this team? And who will stand out as the real "Superstars" of this team?"
General Manager: "Well, as far as strengths go, we have a pretty well balanced team, some players excel at some things, others excel at others, some of them are pretty good all-around. Weaknesses may be depth, we needed to sign three free agents just to fill our major league roster, we don't even have a single player on our AAA team, if we get hit with injuries, we probably won't be going anywhere. As for the stars of the team, for pitching we have our ace starter Waluigi, and a lights-out closer in Boo, for hitting, we have serious home-run threats in guys like Bowser and Donkey Kong. I've seen them hit the ball a good five or six hundred feet in practice, I can't say for sure they can bring this into the real game though."
Reporter: "What about-"
General Manager: "No, that's enough, I don't need to answer anything else. Just watch the games people, you can wait until tomorrow, just stay away from me until then."

Superstars defeat Braves 8-5 on opening day game:

The Superstars seemed to have an early strategy of wearing down the opposing starting pitcher, they took a lot of pitches, even drawing a walk or two. It was most noticeable in the 5th inning, the Superstars already had a 2-1 lead with Bowser and Donkey Kong coming up in the batting order, Smoltz was noticeably tired and gave up back to back home runs to surrender a 4-1 lead. Waluigi collapsed in the 6th, however, giving up the lead by allowing 3 runs, including a 470+ foot home run by Teixeira. The Superstars would bounce back in the 7th, managing 4 runs as Bowser and Donkey Kong went back to back again. Superstars relief pitcher Shy Guy would give up one run as Mark Teixeira crushed another home run over 470 feet, but would still get the win with 2 innings pitched. Boo would come in for the 9th and get the save.

This is awesome! I had an idea kind of like this, but just couldn't do it.

Isn't Peach a really good pitcher?

I actually thought of this months ago, set up all the players and everything, but it was so much work I was sick of it by the time I was done and didn't even want to do it anymore.

And Peach is a good pitcher, and I had the stats updated to show it. If they ever get a game off I can bring them in if necessary to pitch. I don't know if that will ever happen, but I gave some fielders decent pitching abilities, the team kind of lacks pitching depth otherwise. It definitely did before those free agents were signed.

The Superstars have jumped off to a great start after their opening day victory, at 10-3, they are leading their division, but they're about to start a 3 game series with the Mets, who are just half a game behind them...


Late Error Almost Blows Superstars Win, 5-4 Final:

The Superstars were looking to take a bigger lead in the division by beating the Mets, and they just barely managed it. 3 runs scored for the Superstars in the first inning, with the bases loaded and 1 out, it looked like the inning would end without a run on a double play ball, but Donkey Kong ran faster than ever before to just make it into first base on the RBI groundout, he would score after a couple singles. The Superstars would extend their lead to 5-0 in the top of the 5th inning as Bowser and Donkey Kong drove runs in. The Mets would answer back with a couple runs in the bottom half of the inning, making it 5-2. King Boo, by the look of his pitches, got tired by the 8th inning, but he was still in, until a misplay by the second baseman was ruled a hit, Shy Guy came in for relief, he gave up hits and a run, but he was able to keep the 5-3 lead by stranding runners at second and third, stranding the tying run at second. Boo came in for the 9th inning save, he got the first two outs easily, but on the third the first baseman overthrew first base horribly, allowing the runner to reach, he would score on a double that would get the tying run to second again, but then a fly ball ended it. Bowser crushed 2 doubles that just barely stayed in the park, King Boo got the win, and Boo got the save. The Superstars now have a 1.5 game lead in their division.

End of April:

Superstars record: 17-11, tied for 1st with the Mets, the ended the month on a 4 game losing streak and will need to turn it around quickly.

Superstars pitcher Boo won Rookie of the Month, with a 0.87 ERA, 12 strikeouts, 8 saves and 1 win.

In the month of May, the Superstars have been going on way too many losing streaks and giving up multiple leads in the division, they've fallen 3 games behind and on the 30th, they're getting ready for a series against the Diamondbacks, who are leading the NL Wild Card by a few games.


Superstars win 4-1 in pitcher's duel:

No runs would score until the 5th inning, when the Diamondbacks went up 1-0, that lead would last about half an inning, as the Superstars tied it in the 6th. Peach would come in to pitch, moving King Boo to second base, Peach pitched 3 innings of shutout ball, striking out 4 and picking up the win, as the Superstars would go ahead on an RBI double by King Boo in the 8th, and add some insurance runs. Boo picked up his 13th save of the season, lowering his ERA slightly to an unbelievable 0.35 for this season, he's allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, in almost 26 innings pitched.

End of May:

Superstars record: 31-26, 1 game behind first place Marlins.

Yoshi won Rookie of the Month, hitting .361 with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs.
